Derren Brown Live: Hero at 30,000 feet, C4 10pm

Agreed.
My point was that it was a quite smooth illusion, even though it seemed obvious that it must involve camera trickery (either that or real 'magic' :) ).

A casual viewer might guess that something like a split screen was in use, but only a frame-by-frame analysis of the recording *proved* it.

He might have got away with it in the seventies, but it seems strange, in this age of digital recorders and internet, that DB would build an elaborate illusion around a simple and rather obvious camera trick.

A - it must be obvious that he's looking at a computer screen and not the real sky
B - he must have noticed that it was daylight when he stood up and night when he sat down in the cockpit

whatever sort of person ron hubbard was, if you find out about his life story, the fact remains people who knew him at that time, and watched him hypnotizing people regarded him as a master hypnotist.

I recorded this and have just watched it now.

Sorry Derren, but the people you're fooling most these days are the Channel 4 commissioning editors, your programme was a load of drivel.

So bad in fact that I started to fast forwarding through a lot of it.

As a qualified private pilot who also enjoys playing around with flight simulators I can say that the so-called big finish was just ridiculous. Yes, an unqualified person could probably land a commercial jet at a modern airport just by pushing a few buttons under the right conditions. BUT the only way you'd do that is by letting the autopilot and instrument landing system take care of most things. What was the first thing this poor sap was told to do in the simulator? Turn the autopilot off...

Quite clearly someone outside the simulator was controlling things for him.

I'm suggesting that she wasn't in a trance at all, but decided she had had enough when he put his hand in her knickers. We are told in the article that in previous weeks he had asked her to remove her top, touch her breasts etc. Where do you suppose this information originated in the investigation? Did our hypnotherapist offer it up himself? That was good of him. Or did she actually have full memory of it all, but wasn't sure if it was improper? (as I said, it's not difficult to see how a woman being treated for weight issues could be made to focus on and examine her body, and it seem legitimate)

Oh no, I've got it - she was hypnotised again and went back through it all by regression.

Just about hanging in there mate, thanks.

Yep, me agreeing with you again..

That's the crux of it I think - he has done a complete 180 - it used to be be real, clever and thought provoking and now it's dumbed down, fake and overly sentimental

Maybe your right maybe not, but as I said it isnt important in the grand scheme!

Wasnt aware of that.

Now that I can categorically say plants and stooges is not true,as I'm a magician (be it amateur)and can replicate Derrens live act effects.

This is a load of crap.

If someone woke me up at night saying this was a dream I would start screaming like a lunatic, not get dressed and go out the yard for a chat.

I stated my opinion somehwere in this thread. I missed a couple of bits of it but like Heist it didnt really grip me,not really my fave work of Derren's.

For those that are interested- seems Matt and Liv posted on Derrens blog on March 14th:
