Depth perception test and MEPS?

I'm joining the Navy, took the ASVAB yesterday (and scored well), and next Tuesday I'm going to be taking the physical. I'm worried about the depth perception test. I've heard a lot of people fail it. All the jobs that I want are aviation, so if I don't pass I'm not sure what to do. I have a couple questions.

1) Is the test really as bad as people say?
2) If I fail, and sign a contract with a non-aviation rate, would I be able to re-take the test with a civilian optometrist and then get an aviation rate while in DEP?

I've seen all sorts of things regarding depth perception, including they don't count it anymore, but you still have to take the test...? So I'm a bit confused. I'm going to try to talk to my recruiter before next Tuesday about all this, but he's always busy and I don't know if I'll have time to get the exact answer I'm looking for out of him. Thought I'd come on here and see if anyone has any experience with this.

Thanks!
