Death Note US Remake being written

I actually had to moderate this just now, so for the record please **DO NOT** go hunting for this alleged draft. Don't post it here, don't find or make new links for it. It's now been removed, that means WB doesn't want it out there, and we're not going to disrespect its wishes on this.

I haven't much to add beyond the pretty obvious point that a lot can change and is going to change, given that this movie is in development and is almost certainly going to undergo drastic revision.

Meet Giuseppe Andrews
My ideal American L.
He's got the chops to act, he just neeRAB a chance to shine.
He's aged quite abit since DRC, but with some make up, there ya' go.

Hey Hollywood! This is a respectable forum that offers genius like ^^^ that stuff. Better start reading, this is more than likely what we would like to see and not the exact opposite

Efron might be able to pull off Light and I'm all for Ratcliff as L and Lebeof as Matsuda would be rather amusing.

Efron was alright in Hair Spray. He's a pretty ideal choice because he's shown he can portray the "ideal guy" and that's what Light's facade is.

But where would they find a weird British guy who sits at a computer all day and is convinced of his own intelligence?

...What do you mean 'auditions at 3pm'?

Unlike other remakes like Dragon Ball Z, Death Note actually has a more realistic concept that can be easily replicated by Hollywood. Ditto for the supernatural elements.

So, if by some fluke Hollywood happens to screw this movie up, it'll prove that Hollywood doesn't know how to do live action anime adaptations.

It is vary hard to mess up Death Note. But I wouldn't be surprised if they did. They should do it as a trilogy.
Part one enRAB with Light getting caught by L, Part two enRAB with Light killing L and Near and Mello are introduced and Part three enRAB with Light's death. Death Note should be able to go through the Hollywoodchipper without too much damage. Heck, it might even turn out pretty good.

I'm going to be skeptical on sheer principle, though.

If that's true than it sounRAB official. The only way I would want them diverging from the original storyline at all is if it's a continuation of sorts; if it's an American kid who picks up the book some time after Light. But there's no way in hell I'm going to let them get away with axeing the Shimigami part. I don't care if it's not Ryuk but they can't change the lore like that.

QFT. If this goes wrong, then I will probably not be able to care a lot about upcoming live-action anime movies

(When's that damn Gundam movie being made, I mean a real one)

It'll have to be noticeable to get that attention.

So, if it's really good, really popular, and/or does something crazy enough to get in the news, then likely yes.

If it's mediocre and seen as yet another J-horror remake, then said parents won't even know it exists.

Light was in college during the middle of the books, and that's when the cat and mouse games truly began. We first met Light as a High School Senior.
