Death Note US Remake being written

Zac Efron is my #1 choice to play Light... the hanRABome golden-boy of Disney playing a mass murderer? It's PERFECT. Of course, that's if he can act - can't say I've seen him in any movies.

I wonder about how they'll market the film......Oh boy! I can see it now....

*Light walks into Burger King*
Light: I'll take one whopper with a medium Coca-Cola.
BK Employee: That'll be *insert niraber of Yen it would be*
Light: Sorry...I don't have enough....
BK Employee: Well I'm sorr-YEI!*falls of heart attack while Death Note score begins to play and Light looks up with evil glare*
*Announcer begins to speak as shots from the movie plays*
Announcer: Want to establish your own way of JUSTICE? Well now you can get one of *insert nuraber here* Death Note toys at Burger King. Only for a limited time! And don't forget to play the "Which Book Do YOU Have?" game on every drink! *here would be a shot of a BK Cup with two scratch-off stickers of Ryuk and Rem's notebooks* You could win Big!

Only at Burger King.

The problem with moving the setting to America occurs during the sequels. What happens when Near and the American task force show up? I guess they could change the American task force to the U.N. task force or something.

Well, when you think about it, Soichiro DOES play a "Commissioner Gordon" to L's "Batman," to an extent - a vigilante that goes a bit too far and an honest head-cop guy?

That sucks. The name change doesn't fit. Light makes one think of happy and giggles and all that, so for him to be Kira is great.

Not liking the lack of Ryuk. Ryuk helps convince Light that this is all real, and he's at least someone to share exploits with.

Eh, most critics seemed to either not get the joke (that it's supposed to be exactly like a cartoon that wasn't that good in the first place), not get the message (thinking it was hypocritical for a big studio movie to attack big business when really it's mostly reflective of the directors' frustrations with their system and philosophy on making change within the system), got headaches from it (understandable; it was a bit too long for such a packed movie), or still be angry towarRAB the Wachowskis for the Matrix sequels.

Give it a few years and it's gonna be a cult classic. I'm pretty much sure of it. It's already been shown to be somewhat ahead of its time (when it first came out, they thought the economics stuff didn't equal convincing enough villainry, but with Wall Street lately...).

Man, oh man....Once the Japanese LAM of Death Note came out, I did had a feeling the U.S was looking at it.

Will it work? Yes. But...This is one of those Anime LAM I won't be supporting for. I can't really see it as a remake of a U.S film. Unless they....

-Change the names
-Take out couple characters.
-Give it some

It wasn't looks for me, it was also his personality and his background. Like you said. I just kept on thinking of Chief Yagami whenever I saw TDK.

No offense.... but how do you know it's crap when we don't even have a cast confirmed.... or a director..... or anything other than a possible writer. This applies to everyone though, quit jumping the gun. When this movie get's as far into production as Dragon Ball's movie, then we can start speculating on what's crap and what's not.

Really, I think this will turn out well.

I personally can't stand acting in Japanese movies and TV series. It always seems to comes off as horribly unnatural. (unless that's just how people act in Japan. I've never actually been there)
