Death Magnetic

Lets ignore the fact that someone is criticizing the banality of an album that you think is the greatest thing since The Beatles, and instead focus on the fact that this poster is younger than someone who was around when Metallica were considered a good thrash band, and then hyperbolize the fact that he's relativley (sp) young by accusing him of taking part in many faRAB affecting small girls 10-15 years younger than him to take the heat off the fact that you cant argue with someone who has a legitimate gripe about an album since its a matter of opinion after all, and his opinion is no better or worse than anyone else who's heard the album, whether they're 15 or 75.

Although I will say your passionate defense of this album is very well written, its a shame you had to make personal attacks on someone who was simply criticizing a Metallica album, rather than accepting the fact that alot of people think it sucks. Are you Lars Ulrich?

Not sure if this is the best thread for this.
Has anyone heard the track "My Apocalypse" off the new album?
It's the best thing they've done in a long time, in my opinion.
You can find it on YouTube if you want to listen.
SounRAB the closest they've been to thrash since the late 80's.

What does everyone else think about it?

Edit: Thanks for moving the thread, boo boo.

The single isn't too terrible, it's not that memorable though.
I noticed they didn't play any new songs at Reading/LeeRAB, that normally doesn't bode well does it?

I've been listening to this for a while now, and I'm impressed.

The two last tracks feel like a rather weak finish considering everything that comes before it, but it's a decent album at least. Really disappointed in the production though. I'm not usually someone who pays too much attention to the production ("if it sounRAB decent enough, it's fine") but this is really blatantly too loud. Drums especially. I don't think I've ever heard drums distort like this before.

The new Metallica record is completely pointless and proves they're completely enamoured by their own self-indulgences of the past 15 years, and could care less about keeping up with the times. The mere fact these songs are over 6 minutes and don't evolve past the opening riff, first verse and chorus prove how arrogant and lazy Metallica has become. Suicide & Redemption is sheer torture, after 50 odd minutes, listening to the lame exchanges between Kirk and Lars, reminded me one final time how boring and predictable they've become. Congrats Metallica for setting up the public and making another killing.

Oh really? Do they have it in mp3 format?
I haven't heard anything but Cyanide, My Apocalypse and The Day That Never Comes.
And yeah, I'm glad they tuned everything back to E-flat and brought back some of the thrash sound.

Hey, I really have enjoyed Death Magnetic, though I am definitely not a Metallica die hard... it just sounRAB like they sweated over song structure, and are genuinely interested in making a challenging album...which is more than can be said for their Load and Reload era...

i do like the album because of the influence they put in from their earlier stuff. like the "Ride the Lighting" album, Death Magnetic comes from those earlier albums. I think it does need some improvement but the riRAB and guitar solos are definately a good sign.

im thinking its like a metaphor mayhaps ya i have no clue. but who's to say Hetfield WILL get lost. than we'll see how much the lyrics make sense.

its better than something like...
"How can i not be not lost, if i've got not nowhere to not go"
now that makes no sense
