Death at a Funeral Remake

I think it's more to do with trying to reach an American audience more as it seems pretty much to be the same jokes from the trailer. I'm guessing screenings of the British original didn't go down to well with audiences or something.

Whatever turns you on, but I personally can't see it being as funny as the British one. They'll be trying to Americanise the Ealing comedies next !

I just watched the trailer for the American version after watching the original for the umpteenth time.

It looks quite funny but not sure it will capture the farcical comedy element of the British version.

Interesting that Peter Dinklage is in both though.

I'd like to ask him which version he prefers.

I'll probably watch it on DVD :D

This comes out today - hate midweek openings, although not entirely sure why!

It's a real curiosity that's for sure. Not sure what's going with Neil LaBute - he showed real potential with his first two films (In the Company of Men, Your FrienRAB and Neighbours) and now this?!

To be fair it has the odd funny moment, most of them coming from 30 Rock's Tracy Jordan, but considering the original was in English, was this really necessary Hollywood?! That's right, no it wasn't.

Review here.

I saw the original at the cinema but went in blind, no expectations, no hang-ups, it was probably one of the most gut-wrenchingly funny 90 minute experienmces I've ever had, absolutely loved it!

Just seen the trailer, Chris Rock and Martin Lawrence? No thanks.

Saw this yesterday (having not seen the original) and i loved it. James Marsden was brilliant in it, especially that bit when he's stoned and starts singing that song to Chris Rock's mother, lol. Danny Glover was also hilarious too.

Empire seems to think that this version is the better version when compared to the UK one. They gave it 4 stars.

Couldn't agree more.

I don't understand why they've remade this only 3 years after the original!

You couldn't pay me to go and watch the remake. Even seeing some bits in the trailer make me shudder. The original is very funny, very British but it's fantastic. I dread to think what the Americans have done to it
