Dear Snow, I hate you.

Lots and lots of blankets.

When I lived in the middle of nowhere when I was in 3rd grade our electric was out for 3 days and we didn't have a fireplace. We were piled with 3 feet of snow. We ate crackers and peanut butter sandwiches. Our water came from a well, so that was good, we just didn't get any hot water, so no baths. We basically bundled ourselves under every blanket in the house for those 3 dyas.

I love the snow, and I have to drive 30 miles a day in it, one way in and one way out of town. Where we live, we can get up to 5ft of snow on the ground. I don't think it's so bad. And I drive a Geo metro. :]

Damn, I missed that. Funny thing, I've lived in CO for five years and it's NEVER snowed on Christmas. Technically, I've never had a "White Christmas".

Here we dont' have the power go out very often from snow or weather, but when we do, the power company gets thing working again usualy fairly quickly. I don't think I've personally been without power for more than a few hours in a long time.

Yes, I have to agree, even my first couple times driving on the snow/ice this year freaked me out a bit, but after that I got used to it. We've only had snow for about a week now, and it I'm driving on it as if I've driven on it all my life.

Just to mention, though...I don't know many people who have generators around here. I know my parents do, but it's used for other things mostly.

I remember hearing about that. There was one year it snowed on Christmas Eve when I was little, and we made snow turkeys! There wasn't enough snow on the ground to actually make a real snowman though.

I just wanted to add my .02 cents here:

1. The wind is blowing hard enough right now to flex my windows, and the power hasn't gone out. Power outages are not common, even in near-whiteout conditions (which I've seen), and our electric company fixes them really fast. They understand that people can die if the power is out too long in the winter. Additionally, most houses are run off of gas. Electric heating up here is stupidly expensive.

2. Many houses outside of town (where the power goes out most often) have a wood stove as either their primary or secondary heating system. Therefore, no problem. I've had to shit in a bucket for a week when the power went out when I lived in B.F.E., but I was never cold.

3. If all else fails, start up the car and sleep in that.

Ok so we had a cold front move through last night so here is the closest I will get to relating :)

It's 70 degrees out now. Time to get out our sweaters and mittens!

No seriously, ppl are wearing sweaters today. We're so lame.
