yeah.. in the movie the whole thing is very weird, but in the book you do undestand why she married Tim.. it was so different  I wish they hadnt changed it.. I mean he was acting like her dad the whole time, saying he would have to break john's leg or something, if he hurt her. So it really felt weird to see him as the one she married. And the motivation too.
Tim (in the book) got sick AFTER they got married, she didnt marry him CAUSE he was sick.
But I think what upset me the most towards the end was what Tim said about Alan. That he was happy he would have someone (Savannah) to always take care of him. I didnt like it at all. I liked what he said in the book! That she was not supposed to have this responsability, that he didnt want her to have a burden.
About the differences between the book and the movie (and only who read the book will understand ), what I can say is:
In the book she is a brunette, and he never got shot, but I didnt mind that they changed those things.. it didnt make a big difference.
When she said "I wanna meet your dad" it felt kinda rushed, even though in the book it didnt. But I understand, they do have to rush things a little bit, its not like every conversation they had could be on screen. (I wish!)
I liked that they made John clumsy in the movie
Like when he turned around and hit the surf board in the pier, or stepped in the beachfire and hurt his foot  That was cute.
Love the details they kept from the book, even out of order. Like when he tried to surf but thought about her all day, looking at the house.. or when he was teaching her to surf

Also loved some details they added, like Savannah singing and playing guitar. That was so nice, John watching her kinda mesmerized :sigh:
Ah, and I thought it was nice to see the letters coming and going, through mail.. from the airplane, to the mail boxes, to the bus, etc. It showed the 'effort' they made to communicate.
I loooooved the first kiss scene, with the rain and all :sigh:
In the book she didnt jump into his lap though :look: But I loved that, it was hot :thud:
hmmm and I really like the way he said 'I love you" for the first time in the book, I mean it was really spontaneous and real. But I also love the way they wrote it into the movie. The first note he ever wrote to her was "I love you"- short, sweet, to the point.
I missed:
- The line "I'll marry you someday."
I know we got the "I promise" scene, but it didnt feel the same.
- Her telling him about the almost-rape

For those who didnt read the book, Savannah was almost raped in first year of college, and she tells John the whole thing. I feel like it was really important to their story and I was sad to see they left out.
- His tattoos.. I really like their story, and how in the book she describes the tattoos as the layers of his personality
- The two weeks they're supposed to spend together when he was back. One day was not enough, a lot happened in those two weeks and I wish they had shown that. But they did managed to show his suspicions towards her friend, not wanting to shake his hand.
- He burned the letters

I love the quote from the book when he says he kept all her letters, and that he used to carry that last one with him, like a war wound. It made much more sense then burning them.. burning is so inelaborate, we saw it dozens of times in movies and books already.
I liked:
- The scene where she realized she was alone. Everybody else around was with friends, boyfriends, girlfriends, having fun and LIVING their lives. And she was waiting.. it felt very real. It's exactly like that how you feel (and I speak for myself here). Like every single person around you is living, and your life is stuck, depending on someone else's life. I'm sure it was even worst for her, cause he was a soldier after all, in contanst danger.. and she was worried all the time.
- The scene where they try to make his dad go to her parent's place. Wonderful acting. I genuinely felt his pain there. His and John's.
- The "what do you want from me" scene. :thud:
I love it so much I have no words. It was exactly how I imagined it reading the book, and they delivered it perfectly. The way he broke down in front of her :bawl: I cried my eyes out.
- And finally, the scene where she says "Why didnt you call me? Why you didnt give me any sort of change to make you change yourmind?" :bawl:
I started to cry when he said that, and when she broke down "cause just hearing your voice I'd have changed my mind" I was sobing :bawl:
wrote too much  sorry
