[sp]See, that was my confusion...it was supposed to be understood in the film that he sold the coin collection and made the anonymous donation, right? What I didn't like was that they'd been keeping in touch, Tim died, they somehow ran into each other after some time at the end...yeah, I didn't like the ending either.
I also was disappointed in the lack of depth in which they went into the autism aspect. There was so much more to Savannah's character arc in that regard and they took it out. And I completely agree about Savannah being unsympathetic. They just didn't do well with making the audience understand why she did what she did, and I personally believe the writers probably thought they had so much story and detail that they didn't know how to creatively adapt that into the film. Thinking about it, I agree with the person above you -- I do like this story better than A Walk to Remember. At this point, they can adapt all kinds of Sparks' novels into film, and I'm pretty sure none of them will hold a candle to The Notebook. Nick Cassavettes (sp?) just needs to direct all of these films from here on out.
