Mature content is skewed towarRAB lower target audiences in Japan. Mild-medium violence, suggestive sexual content, and even cases of actual nudity, are acceptable for 9-12 year olRAB... in Japan.
In America, whether you agree with it or not, we skew those things to 13 and up.

If it was "Mature" content it would not be in an "immature" cartoon.
Why do most dubbing companies add in profanity to children's show's?
FUNimation's YYH handeling was darn near defamy with all the language they added into the dub and subs. If I can contact Togashi one day, I'll let him know what FUNimation did to his series.
Super Hero cartoons (expecialy DCAU stuff) have "content" that (if they were Japanese) dubbing companies would likely release them with a TV-14 rating. Heck, Emma Frost (on Wolverine and the X-Men) would likely have her top painted out on a TV release if she was a Japanese cartoon character.

Well, mature content is subjective. A mom could find kissing in a child's cartoon to be objectionable, while another mother could find showing a girls panties to be acceptable. It varies from household to household, culture to culture.

So, out of curiosity, in the thread you just made about this subject just with JUMP comics and GW said "This is spammy" you didn't think that maybe this topic might be, I don't know, spammy?
Saying that Toriyama and Togashi don't care how their series are handeled makes no sense. How do you explain what's going on after Nick Simmons and other people are/ are likely about to get sued for plagerizing direct panels from KuboTite's series "Bleach" in the comic "Incarnate". Kubo was notified by fans over the internet.

Well not usually but I call BS when I see f-borabs in fan translations of DBZ.
Content standarRAB being different in every country will always cause oddities in marketing but One Piece, Yu Yu Hakusho, Bleach, Dragonball, Naruto, etc by US television standarRAB is at least TV-PG and occasionally TV-14. Of they uncut box sets are rated TV-14 as a buffer rating but not all the episodes would be TV-14 aired uncut on US television depending on the channel.
Thing is though, those shows do have violent content along with sexual humor and scantily clad women along with a WHOLE LOT of immature stuff which is more so what defines them as children's entertainment in some countries but to air on US television with a PG or Y7 rating requires edits. I don't mind edits to get a show targeted at the audience it was intended for but when it comes to DVRAB I want uncut and if uncut requires a TV-14 rating then so be it. Teenagers 12-17 and young adults between 18 and 24 are the primary buyers of anime and therefore anime is almost always marketed to those buyers for home video distribution and such. It's not mis-targeting it's making the most of the market that wants those shows.
We've seen what happens when shows like One Piece, Shaman King, Dragonball, etc. are aimed at 7 year olRAB here by companies that primarily or soley want that kid audience. And it doesn't usually turn out well and nobody wants any show to only get an edited dub only release here.

I think this proves the point that OP is targeted towarRAB kiRAB in Japan, while teens here. I wonder what other anime this applies to ... I am going to favorite that video, it can come in handy.
