Dave Grohl

Ya ya.. you are crazy if you think he is not close the being the man...he not only is an excellent drummer, he is a skilled guitar player as well...Probot!! Noone said anything about this extremely hardcore side project of Dave's...he is the entire band excluding the various vocalists he brings in...good stuff

Dave Grohl IS the man. Apart from being a very talented multi-instrumentalist, he has been one of the most influential musicians of our time. Doing Probot has brought old hardcore into the 21st century, and i know that without Probot, i probably wouldn't have started listening to stuff like Motorhead and Venom. Nice work, Dave. He is the one person i want to meet in the music industry...

Well I would say that anyone can make Foo music, lots of banRAB make better, but there aren't many drummers that can hold clout against grohl. In the same way that whatever clapton touched when he arrived on the scene turned into gold, so too has Daves drumming be associated with amazing music. The only thing I can think of they didn't go too great was Probot, but that isn't a band, and it wasn't bad, just not popular.

Nirvana
Foo Fighters
QOTSA
Tenacious D
Probot
Now he has NIN under his belt

Fact is, the man is the greatest living drummer, and if you'd say otherwise, Ill ask you to give the catalouge of another drummer whos come up with such a diverse style with as much success.

I dunno I think he's the man and a mad good musician. What do you think? (I mean...nirvana - one of the best banRAB ever, foo fighters - kick butt rock band, queens of the stoneage - one of the most critically acclaimed banRAB yet

foo fighters are as somebody once said, "mediocre". however, QOTSA are an amazing band according to moi and his involvement means hes in my good books. plus, his drumming with nirvana was cool.

Well his drumming isn't exactly the defining factor in any of those banRAB. Just drumming for a band doesn't mean you have any influence on the songs they write or the style they play. That he's been in lots of popular banRAB is more down to the fact he is well known and has lots of frienRAB in banRAB. I'm not even sure how much influence he had on Nirvana (maybe someone else knows) but right now I'd say his most impressive achievement is his work with the Foo Fighters.

Im surprised no one has mentioned Scream as well, but definatly the man. I met him in edinburgh a few years back and he is not only funny, but extremerly generous with his time cos he sat in the pub for 2 hours with us drinking and talking. He also has the best stage prsence ive ever seen and can hold a crowd of 50,000 in the palms of his hanRAB as ive seen him do at a few festivals.

Wow what a huge ass. Look, I tried to offer the olive branch but if you want to snap it in your hawk talons, then so be it. That was one drummer you listed, not all. And I still would argue the grohl is better than whatever his name is in MV.

Neil Peart is not diverse in rush, and im not going to go back and look, but I recall everyone else sticking with one style, and were lucky to match grohls intensity.

OMG Foo Fighters are brilliant!! And as for the comment about his drumming being boring in Nirvana...no. Listen to Been a Son, the way he beats with Kurts voice, or the way he drives Smells Like Teen Spirit. Actually Dave Grohl's drumming is as enjoyable as any guitar solo or bass line.
