We got a dog in February. I have been the one that trains him. I tought our dog how to sit. He was so good at it that you culd just say it and he would sit right away! BUT MI DAD STARTED SAYING SIT LIKE 3 TIMES JUST TO GET HARVEY (our dog) TO SIT! SO THEN HARVEY WULD ONLY SIT IF YOU SAID IT ATLEAST 3 TIMES! i got really mad at him and am STILL retraining harvey. he can sit pretty well but I fear I will never get him to sit like he used to. now we say get down for Harvey to get off of the counter. MI DAD KEEPS SAYIG GET DOWN. DOWN GET OFF jst like tht. 1st off, u only say it once. second, I'm TRYING 2 train Harvey to lie down. and the command is down. He readydelayed his training because he keeps saying the rong command. and then he says get off which is the rong command. mo dad does this also with walking, wer he will say hold up, easy, and stop, when Harvey doesn't know what that means. He snt BEng consistent. how do I get mi dad to stop doing this because our dog would be trained by now if my dad didn't do that. PLEASE HELP BECAUSE IM VERY MAD AT HIM AND IF I CORRECT HIM, HE GETS MAD AT ME!!! thx

I am sorry to hear this, often in a home there is a great 'untrainer' I have my husband who does that, he talks to the dogs like they know what he is saying and gets cross when they don't respond.

My only suggestion is that you turn this negative into a positive, and say thanks Dad for trying to help Harvey, perhaps you could take him to an obedience or training class, they he will learn how to do it and help you!

Best of luck, this is a common problem!
