D.Gray-Man: the anime TV series talkback

Well, the anime is officially over. It was a good episode, but not a good final episode, you know. I really hope they end up starting a new series in a year or so, or at least do OVAs somewhere down the line like with Hunter X Hunter.

I could have sworn that there was a manga topic, but I can't find it here. Since the anime is over, we might as well convert this to an overall discussion of the series

Anyway, for those who were following the manga, it will be coming out of hiatus on April. The reason it went on hiatus was because the manga-ka injured her wrist, not a "*about to finish off opponent* *coughs blood* Why did this happen now of all times?" disease like many thought.

I think the anime went on hiatus because of the manga hiatus. I believe once the manga come back and has enough chapters new episodes or a new series will air.

The anime ended before the manga went on hiatus, so that wasn't the reason why it ended. It was due to getting too close to the manga and supposedly low DVD sales.

In case you missed the post, I'm using this as a manga topic since the anime is over.

With chapter 185, we are introduced to "Crow", a Black Order team that is half-akuma. Yeah, there's no way these guys aren't going to become villains.

After another long break, D.Gray-Man is back in a special chapter in Akamaru Jump. Unfortunately, it seems the series is going to become monthly, and will be published in Jump Square.

As for the chapter itself, we are introduced to all of the Noahs, and most of them have really uninspired designs. They're seriously just a bunch of Tyki look-alikes. Their very existence is enough to drastically bring down my opinion of the Noahs as a villain group. The plot seems to be going into overdrive, and not in a good way either. Way too much happened in this chapter, especially compared to the chapters before the latest hiatus, even with the extended page count, and I had a hard time understanding what was going on. I even thought the beginning of the chapter was a flasrabroadack until Tyki mentioned Allen. Also, those two Crow merabers just explained their backstory and then died, as if the manga-ka wants to get past that entire subplot as quickly as possible. Indeed, the entire chapter gave the impression that she's trying to end it soon. Let's hope things improve after this chapter.

I actually made a post about it here, considering this is an anime thread and that one pertains to the manga. Although you could make a discussion topic once the serialization in Jump Square starts.

As for the newest chapter, the confusion is to blame on the translators for it. Literally four different people tried their hand at translating it, making an incomprehensible mess. If you can read it in Japanese, it makes a hell of a lot more sense--or you can wait for another translation.

The chapter was a convoluted mess. Although it is nice to see some mysteries solved, I still think they should've been paced a little better. Methinks that Hoshino is starting to get sick of the manga and just wants it to end...which I consider to be a dangerous way of thinking considering the reputation the manga has right now. I don't want to see the manga go from AWESOME to UGH in the blink of an eye.
