D.Gray-Man: the anime TV series talkback

I believe that is the title they gave for the episode in the episode 2 preview from episode 1. This is a rough translation, I need to wait and see how it really will be translated as.
 
I've read most of this series manga and it gets really good soon you just need to be patiant thats all. The series is good but the animation can be hard to see because it's so dark.
 
All other sites I've seen are using that title. So I'm going to leave it as that unless the name gets changed when episode 2 airs.


Agreed. The scenes inside the church and Moore's house were very difficult to see at times. The only light scene that I've seen in the episode was inside the police station. I do understand that this is a pretty dark series, but it neeRAB a bit more legibility.
 
Well, I just finished watching episode 2 and here are my thoughts:

- it looks like people are translating the title for this episode as "The Dark Religious Organization" instead of the "The Black Order". So, the title will have to stay as "The Dark Religious Organization".
- the episode still looked too dark in some spots, namely when Allen reaches the top of the cliff. It's really hard to make out the structure of the organization in all that darkness.
- The Gatekeeper is a riot and he reminRAB me of DOH from Arkanoid with that easter island mowa head of his!
- At last we're introduced to the rest of the main cast and got a small glimpse into Allen's past. Lina Lee is pretty cute, Kanda is all badass, and Komui is just so carefree. He reminRAB me of Hughes from FullMetal Alchemist. Although one big question I have is: what is up with the organization's mascot? He looks like an oversized condom!
- No akuma battles this episode and namely, no big appearance by the Earl of Millennium apart from him floating around London with his urabrella and seeing a glimpse of him in the past and how it led to the three days of darkness in Noah's Ark. Still interesting to see though.
- Allen's operation on his hand was funny stuff and we got to see the rest of the inner workings of the organization. That giant exorcist being was pretty freaky looing though.
- Apparently, the show is going on a similar Inuyasha plot where Allen neeRAB to collect 109 pieces of innocence before the Earl can get his hanRAB on them. Looks like we have a setup for the next 109 or so episodes of the series.

Great episode with a great introduction to the rest of the cast. Can't wait for next week!
 
I just watched episode two. It was a bit better than the previous one, but this is nowhere near Death Note levels of coolness yet.
 
Got around to episode 2. I really should compare this to the manga but it seems to be moving faster? Maybe that's just me.

Also, I don't recall this much emphasis on comedy, but it's been awhile since I've read the first volume.

Otherwise, it's a decent start to the series.
 
It is moving faster. In fact, episode 2 skips past a short arc that details more into Allen's past. No word on whether that arc will be shown in a future episode.

Anyways, thoughts on episode 3:
-At last Allen gets to go on his first real mission. Unfortunately, he's paired up with cold-as-ice Kanda who still despises Allen, calling him a "bean sprout".
-That gay cook kinda creeped me out with his lovey-dovey attitude for cooking.
-The way Allen and co. got aboard the train was pretty funny...with them surprising the people inside.
-Again the constant amount of darkness made it very hard to view certain segments of the episode, especially against Allen's battle with the Akumas. I'm afraid this may end becoming prevalent for the duration of the series.
-Man, the joker Akuma who evolved really handed Allen his ass for most of the fight...but him transforming into Allen? That's just creepy!
-Speaking of that level 2 Akuma, his crazy voice was what I originally imagined what the Earl of Millennium was supposed to sound like.
-Kanda using his Mugen to create illusion insects to take down the Akuma was badass and I thought was the best part of the episode.
-The ghost of Mateel seems pretty vague at this moment. I hope they give us a better explanation of him in the next episode.
-Oh, and seeing Komui freak out over Linalee supposed "marriage" was hilarious.

Can't wait to see the next episode of this arc. This series is really starting to pick up steam fast!
 
Just caught episode 3.

I really hope that if it gets licensed here that the studios brighten the picture. It's really difficult at times to make out what's going on, often to the show's detrement.
 
Agreed. The whole scene with Allen fighting the level 1 akuma was barely visible the whole time. I know the series is supposed to be dark but not this dark!


When the series finally gets into its longer arcs, it'll pick up steam very quickly.
 
Episode 4 thoughts:

-darkness problem...again
-nice little plot twist showing that Guzol really isn't the real ghost of Mateel and that Lala really is!
-okay, that level 2 akuma is starting to get really annoying. I hope Allen kicks his ass in the next episode.
-Kanda is starting to show a little heart whereas in the previous episodes, he was as cold as ice.
-wow! Tincampy actually has a mouth that projects images? 0_o; weird.
-Lala's lullaby was really beautifully sung. Kudos to the singing VA for doing a great job!
 
I officially consider episode 5 to be the best episode yet in the series. Everything about it just blew me away!

-Interesting to see the differences in attitude between Allen and Kanda. Kanda is a guy who believes he should act in his own best interest while Allen just wants to help people for the right reasons. It's those conflicting attitudes which seem to give an indication of certain humans in the world. One side wants to do what they feel is right while the other side wants to do what is in their best interest.
-The inconceivable darkness that plagued the first four episodes has been corrected now. The episode was a LOT more visible than ever before and I hope it stays this way for the duration of the series.
-The climatic battle between the Level 2 Akuma and Allen & Kanda was nothing short of awesome! Allen morphing his anti-akuma arm into a chaingun and owning the Akuma was very well done and had me on the edge of my seat! Great stuff!
-The ending scene with Guzol and Lala with Lala singing a lullaby while Guzol passed away was one of the most tear jerking moments I had ever experienced while watching an anime. Even as I'm typing this I'm tearing up just thinking about it. Lala's angelic song to ease Guzol on his death bed was very, very powerful. If the anime can keep up this sense of emotion for future episodes, D.Gray-Man may very well be one of the best Shonen Jump series ever created!
And thus enRAB the Ghost of Mateel arc. Next week we finally learn of Allen's past and what drove him to be an exorcist. I'm really going to be following this anime full time now.
 
Episode 6 thoughts:

-Finally, the missing chapter in the original manga is being covered in this episode and they made it blend very well with the events following the Ghost of Mateel arc. Kudos the writing and animation crew for this.
-I thought Jean and Leo reminded me of the other brothers Elric from episodes 11 and 12 of Fullmetal Alchemist for some reason. Weird. 0_o
-Jean was a pretty annoying kid with his overinflated ego and desire to become the hunter of Akuma.
-Did anyone think that the Akuma in disguise that was holding Jean earlier in the episode look just like the undertaker?
-At long last, the Millennium Earl reappears! Although now, he can move his mouth muscles but still won't disrupt that grin!
-The scene with the surprise party was pretty funny stuff. Although word of advice, don't mess with Linalee!
-Good flasrabroadack scenes with Allen and Mana. Now we can see how Allen got his eye power as well as what happened to his father. This should be further explained in the next episode.
-Pretty tense moment with Allen and Jean when Leo became the body for the Akuma of his dead mother. Can't wait to see how it gets resolved next week.
-Pretty damn conveniant for Linalee to show up just as Allen mentions that he was the one who turned his father into an Akuma.
 
Sorry that I'm late with the updates for these talkbacks lately but I had a math test to study for. Anyways, getting up to speed.

Episode 7 thoughts:
-Another well executed episode, although it doesn't nearly come as close to beating episode 5 for best episode yet due to episode 5 having that powerful emotional punch.
-We finally get to see Allen's past and his relationship to Mana opened up more. Turns out Mana isn't even Allen's real father and took Allen in after he got disowned by his real parents due to his mutation on his hand. Throughout Allen's life, Mana has encouraged him to "keep on walking" and never stop. Allen took his worRAB to heart until the day Mana passed away. Touching.
-The scene between Allen and the Earl was very gripping. The Earl being his clever evil self takes advantage of Allen's grief in helping him resurrect his adoptive father. But after Mana was brought back, he unleashes a fury of vengeance upon Allen and destroys his left eye. Just when all hope was lost for Allen, his innocence arm activates and his hand starts to creep on its own towarRAB Mana. A very creepy scene I might add.
-After using his arm to destroy Mana, Allen grieves until general Cross Marian of the Black Order shows up to offer Allen some guidance. Thus, Allen's career as an exorcist begins.
-Returning to the present, Allen's reminiscence of his past flares up his desire to destroy the Earl even more and starts to attack his Akuma army. In addition, Lenalee joins in the battle and starts to attack the Akuma with her own Innocence skill in her boots. Great scene.
-The ending of the battle with Allen using his Cross Grave attack to wipe out all the Earl's Akuma looked cool but I can't help but feel that it looked cheap and rushed just to get the battle over and done with. Oh, and the Earl's urabrella speaks.
-After the battle, Jean makes his resolve to become a great Akuma hunter but doing it less recklessly. A nice scene and the scene at the end of the episode with the onion borab mailed to his dad was pretty funny.

Episode 8 - The Destruction of the Dark Order?!

Looks to be a comedy oriented episode.
