Culture, society and advanced technology?

What do you think are the critical aspects of advanced technology and human experience?

Do you think that literature can reflect cultural fears and expectations? What might be an example?
 
The worst thing that we have done with our advanced technology is that we have put all expectations on it to cure all that ails us. Technology has nothing to do with it. Proof? How the heck did we get to where we are without it? How come in the last 60 years when we have become such a high tech society that we have had the biggest decline in health? That answer is right there and yet everybody goes right past it. So much for technology.
