;^) In January 2007 I did my own research and learned that Cricket wireless service had the best prices for service out there. Unlimited minutes for about the same cost per month as my land line.
Next, I looked for phones that used the same frequencies and protocols, namely 800 1900 Mhz and CDMA. It was obvious that the Trēo 755p could work on Cricket, but it wasn't available at that time.
I contacted both Cricket and Palm via telephone and explained it to them, and asked whether either had considered such an arrangement. Each separately confided that such a deal was in negotiation and would happen "any day now," so I waited.
:^( By January 2008, a year later, there was no indication that their talks had gone anywhere. So, I took the plunge and bought a Trēo 755P (Sprint) without a service place, and set about getting it flashed to Cricket on my own. The guy at the shop could get voice and text to work by changing the PRL, but he couldn't get the Internet to work. Soooo, I hopped online and set about learning to do that on my own.
