Cricket to Launch Android Phone

I hope its less than $299. Frankly, if it neeRAB the $60 plan and it's $299, you aren't really saving much over Sprint or T-Mobile at that point (unless you truly need unlimited voice versus 900+ minutes). Plus, you would get better phones.

Yeah, I understand what you mean. I'm starting to think myself that it would make more sense to switch carriers, even if it means getting a contract and splitting the bill with family or frienRAB. Sprint would come out to $35/month with 1,600 Shared Minutes and Unlimited Any Mobile, with the unlimited messaging and data, if I split the cost of the employee plan with four frienRAB.. I think that's a pretty good deal, even if it does require a contract!

I don't know, I think I'm going to wait as of now and see what happens with the Zio and Cricket before taking any steps to change anything. I'm hoping for the best!

Enjoy Sprint!! It looks like you got the Evo, which seems to be a nice phone! If I went to Sprint, I think that'd be the one I'd get too, even though I'm not in a 4G area (but close to one..).

yeah, great for AWS markets but that's it. Trust me there will be no support for this phone unless it's by you guys.

Don't get me wrong this is a great OS for Cricket, Android, but the actual phone sucks.

The only people wanting this phone are Cricket users.

Cheap phones rarely get support, look at the history.

--------EDIT-----------

Perfect example, what Cricket phone now is receiving a lot of support with modding, hacking etc...

I was told today by a manager at cricket corp that the ZIO will be available in 3 weeks and that the $60 plan will be reconfigured for the phone, unlimited data/net and all the other goodies.. I hope its true. Just thought I would mention it on here.

I agree with the Evoke being horrendous in service because yes, it is a POS. Yet nothing has proved on a Cricket network that the 3G wireless data plan is legit or trustworthy. I am still biased about the extra data package fee for Cricket because Boost offers $60 dollar Blackberry plan. I dont know how Boost will set aside for their new Android phone which comes out real soon, but Cricket neeRAB to bump up their game in order to survive the competition.

Is there any reason why Qik won't work on the Zio? I've noticed that on their site they have a list of supported phones, and was wondering if Qik neeRAB to wait and do something in order for it to work on the Zio. I thought it worked on all Android phones, but I guess not. Do you think it'll work on the Zio?

We didn't. You came into the thread and you're not a Cricket user. Seems pointless, but whatever works for you.

Kyocera is slapping their name on the Sanyo brand of phones as well, with Sanyo getting killer review after review on product quality...we'll have to see what's what when it comes out.

So the $15/mo HTML plan simply removes the 160kbps cap on their proxy but all traffic is still routed through their wap.mycricket.com proxy.

I don't see anywhere on the Cricket website to sign up for that.

You can't compare a Blackberry Storm and a HTC device against Kyocera.

Those are heavily marketed devices with good specs, and a large loyal following. Kyocera has none of that.
