Covering Kills

See, now you've resorted to name-calling and we can all see how childish you really are.

You're missing the big picture again. Changing your opinion has nothing to do with being a hypocrite.

EXAMPLE:
No one should eat ice cream.
If I eat ice cream, then I am a hypocrite.

If I say, I don't feel that so-and-so writes good lyrics,
Then the next day, I change my opinion, so-and-so is very talented, that is NOT hypocritical.

There's a gigantic difference between being a hypocrite and changing your views... You're just not seeing it.

they did an excellent job with that song. i like it better than the original. and althugh you might say "ya know" a lot in person, it looks pretty retarded when you type it out every goddamn time.

Murder Junkie - Duran Duran did virtually an enitre ALBUM of bad covers, called "Thank You", which included the following bad versions of good songs:

White Lines (Grandmaster Flash) A little help from GrandMaster Flash himself can't even help this cover.

I Wanna Take You Higher (Sly & the Family Stone) Blah.

Perfect Day (Lou Reed) Ok, I guess so.

Watching The Detectives (Elvis Costello) Nope… uh-uh.

Lay Lady Lay (Dylan) Yikes. Do not let Duran Duran go near another Dylan song… EVER.

911 Is A Joke (Public Enemy) Simon LeBon rapping?! Ridiculous, and erabarrasing to say the very least. Can't believe this song got the OK from the record label.

Crystal Ship (The Doors) Not bad, but yet still somehow very bad, indeed.

10. Thank You (Led Zeppelin) Probably the only decent cover on this album.

I Wanna Take You Higher Again (Sly & the Family Stone) Decided one version wasn't enough for some reason.

The saddest thing about this album… I OWN IT.

Speaking of Limp Bizkit, I wholeheartedly feel that they did a fantastic job with the Mission Impossible theme music. I know the actual song isn't a cover in itself but the theme music in my opinion really was 'kick arse'.

Nirvana's covers are pretty good, and they're usually of some great banRAB, but I've always found that when I went and listened to the original, I almost always liked it better. All the Meat Puppets versions I think are more compelling than the Nirvana covers, I like the Vaselines' version of Jesus Wants Me for a Sunbeam better, although that's really the only Vaselines song I'm very particular to, and there's other stuff too. Their cover of "Here She Comes Now" is pretty uninspired, "Turnaround" is an ok version of a not so good song, and I don't really like their cover of "Where Did You Sleep Last Night."

"Love Buzz," on the other hand, is one of my favorite Nirvana songs.

How can you say that? The Spiderbait cover is 100% improved on the Ram Jam version plus you can't go far wrong with a video of the calibre that accompanied it.

You sir, need looking at:D

i think it's pretty sad that you actually pay attention to the lame-lame covers like avril's or whatever and actually let them ruin the original for you

the only times i've let that happen were with american pie and i love rock 'n roll

Touche. I also thought the Teen Spirit song was very good.

Different. But very good. She also did a good job of Killing Me Softly.

I would like to point out here that Duran Duran guitarist Andy Taylor was the first to cover 911`s a joke on his solo album , so Duran Duran are technically responsable for ruining that song TWICE.

Did you not read the dictionary definition and read my post? Cause to be honest your entirely missing what i said. Name calling? If i said YOU ARE AN ASS HOLE that would be name calling, YOUR ARE BEING AN ASS HOLE, is saying your acting.

Anyway i have a date, so i wont reply to your next post for a few hours.

Yeah, but if you say "Oh, Dylan is overrated" to make yourself seem superior or for whatever reason, when you really love Dylan with all your heart, that is being a hypocrite, because you're professing beliefs that you don't actually hold.

If, on the other hand, you have radical Dylan mood swings I suppose that doesn't really make you a hypocrite.

Duh the vocals are going to be different. And they're terrible. And exchanging a guitar solo for speak and spell changes a song pretty drastically.

You're going to have to explain to me how Bob Dylan is overrated. He's been putting out good music since 1962. Your parents were probably still ****ting in diapers.
