But sweeping generalisations are such fun! :p But you're quite right. Actually I really liked Bob de Caux as well (can't quite place anyone else on your list at the moment). He came across really well, too, playing the game with a smile on his face. He's obviously had his fair share of troubles to overcome in his life as well, what with him being a Spurs fan and all!
 
As I understand it, she does get some help from the production staff, but no computer is used - there are some brainy people behind the scenes. It must be remembered that Dictionary Corner is not there to compete, but just to add entertainment value, and to show what could have been arrived at by the contestants. Often, of course, they can't do any better, which underlines that a computer is not used.
 
I've just looked at the list of guests on the Countdown page and it was Andrew Sachs who I was thinking of. He really was a terrible guest.:yawn:

It's a shame, but I suspect that a lot of the audience were older and simply haven't taken to the new presenters.

Hopefully though it's cheap enough to produce that lower audiences don't matter (yet).
 
I'm not sure if there are any clear ratings.

I could only see that the last episode with Des and Carol got 1.7 million viewers and the first episode with Rachel and Jeff got 1.2.

It's safe to assume that both of the figures are slightly inflated (due to the hype of people leaving/starting).
