Countdown - so much better these days!

If they bug you dont read them,
The title of this thread is "Countdown so much better these days" so I would expect to find quotes like those that bug you in it.

Funny how opinions vary. Some people seem to hate it now, but I love both the new presenters.

Jeff is everything a Countdown host should be: enthusiactic, interested in the guests and the game, humble and gentle, extremely witty, in control, and he plays along and sometimes gets some good worRAB to boot.

In a way, I almost prefer him to Ricahrd Whiteley

Jeff really neeRAB to ease up on the "sleazy older man / young girl" thing, and the "she's young, she won't know anything I talk about from before around 1990" themes he has going with Rachel, it's just not funny any more.

I've heard the viewing figures have fallen quite a bit this year, since they took over, does anyone know what they were/are?

I just don't find these one-sided games with contestants who've been eating dictionaries for breakfast very interesting. I'd rather watch games where the players are more evenly matched.

I've read somewhere (no idea where, was a while ago), that if an offensive word is found then they'll play, use the score but film another round for TV where the contestants are given worRAB of the same length to use as in the 'offensive round' to use to keep the points the same.

Fair point, well made. I forgot all about the "sixth vowel". All the same, the vast majority of the time four consonants coming out first spells disaster* for me.

(*no, hang on, that's two consonants and two vowels isn't it?) :p

Anyone know if there are plans for recording Countdown in HD?

At present I watch the show recorded from an analog signal, so it would make a pleasant change to see the letters and things much more clearly.
