Countdown - so much better these days!

If the desired effect is making viewers switch off, then yes, it's working a treat. ;)

Seriously though, I'm not sure the traditional Countdown audience (pensioners) would feel comfortable with some of Rachel's outfits, as pleasing to the eye to some posters as they are.

Have I totally lost the plot (as in 'can't do arithmetic' :)), or was that last numbers game today easy?

50. 100. 9. 7. 5. 8. to equal 579

5 x 100 = 500
9 x 8 = 72
add 7

Can't believe even Rachel didn't get it.

i thought it was time to revive this thread now countdown is back on.The blonde hippychick singer did well.I wasnt sure how old she was but i think she looked like she has had a bit of work done.Early 40s maybe?

Absolutely agree. Love it or hate it, Jeff, Rachel and Susie make it a pretty easygoing, upbeat show. Sure, occasionally the contestants aren't the most animated, but at least you can usually be sure of some lighthearted relief in dictionary corner. Not so Jane Moore, who has just looked thoroughly miserable all week, boring herself and us to sleep, with her dreary, monotone voice. Good grief woman, put some effort into it! Come back Tim Vine! Best ever guest! Pleeeeeease.

I have to say, after some doubts, I've got used to the new Countdown crew. Rachel seems to have raised her game lately on the numbers, and she's stopped saying 'EM-UH' and 'ESS-UH' when putting up the letters.

I agreee that it seems to be a back to basics, back to being interseting not celebtrised! which is what i think the show should be about :o)

I stopped watching it when DesO was on, but have started looking forward to watching it every day again, so they must be doing something right!

PS The old thread is here
