Countdown - so much better these days!

Jeff - I am possessed by Richard Whiteley :) - fits in perfectly.

He is exactly the right kind of presenter for Countdown with good nature, a sharp wit and a corny line in puns. It should keep the show going for some years after it looked in danger of fizzling out.

No doubt he is on a fraction of the salary that Des O'Connor required. But at least he has his day job at Sky.

And, yes, you can see he is enjoying himself and wants to be there. That is half the challenge.

Yes they need to do this more often. It shakes things up, and makes the numbers game less static and wooden. Also gives Rachel a chance to show more of her personality, (she was great at integrating with and inspiring the youngsters in the recent Maths documentary).

Ha ha.. yes Kirk seems to bug a lot of people, but I love him!

I agree with your second point. There's nothing I'd like more than to see Smirk get beaten. But Phil Hammond really irritates me, going on about his being a doctor the whole time. We know that. Many other medics have made a great success in showbiz (Graeme Garden, Jonathan Miller, for example) but they don't feel the need to remind us every two seconRAB.

Every time I watch, I wish I had a calculator or dictionary type thing to make the best worRAB, the worRAB game goes over my head but I want to be able to play!

Bloody Racheal I might just learn something!

If I get lots of 9 letter worRAB do I win Racheal?? :D:eek:

I think Rachel's a lovely girl and very natural in front of the camera, heaps better than Carol Vorderman ever was, and I bet she wasn't expecting all the comments from so many about the clothes she wears and the hundreRAB of YouTube clips! :D

There was in fact an female octochamp earlier this year called Cate Henderson. But before then there hadn't been one since early 2007, so I suppose there has been a distinct lack of female octochamps.

It's a bit sad, but I can confirm that yes, that is the case.

Today's is a belter too. I'm going to lead the campaign to increase her rating when the FHM 100 comes round again.
