Countdown - so much better these days!

I would guess that Rachel has brightened up this dreary day for a fair few gentlemen today including mine whose tongue was hanging out throughout the programme: :D

Great thread Sylvia. Yep - didn't used to be fussed if I missed them, now record them every day and it'll be a novelty to actually know everyone in the finals. My 85 year old mother in law has taken to Jeff. She didn't have a clue who he was of course, but wanted to, so decided to sit down and watch him at his "other job" on Soccer Saturday and thought he was great! :p

Anyone know how it's doing in the ratings? Creeping back up?

Martin Lewis feels wrong for this programme.

Jeff just made a funny comment about not downgrading Rachel for a cheaper model! Little dig at La Vorderman there?!!

Yay, Rachel and Jeff's 200th edition today. Congratulations. Wow time flies, is that about a year? :D

Also like Charlie and shame the numbers let the girl down yesterday. I didn't mind Ryan, although he was a bit of a walking dictionary at times, coming up with worRAB for Leprosy cream!! Tim Vine made me laugh, how the heck did you know that?!

Is it just me, or does anyone else think there is a ridiculous amount of variation in the conundrum difficulty. They seem to go from something so easy, with almost half the word showing up in the jumbled up letters, such as Bushberry, (Shrubbery), to others where not a soul in the entire building can answer!

I thought that the joke which Jeff read out at the beginning of today's show was in poor taste. There's nothing funny about dementia !

I hate it when contestants ask for a "better" consonant after a Q, X or Z has been put up on the board. I suspect it's probably beginning to get on Rachel's nerves a bit too, now that she's been on the receiving end of it so many times. It's like when contestants used to ask for "a 'p' please, Bob!" on Blockbusters. Mildly diverting the first few times but gradually more annoying.

Anyway, bah!

I went to a morning session and saw two episodes recorded.

It is really just like watching an episode on television. There were very few mistakes and the only delays were for the turning of the board from letters to numbers. The clock just carries on round after the 30 seconRAB is up. We were in there for about 2 and a half hours.

They threw the conundrum to the audience and the guy next to me got it. I never knew the contestants due on next sat in the audience aswell but the guy sat to me who got the conundrum was the next contestant.

I met Jeff afterwarRAB and he was such a great guy, There were about 20 to 30 people waiting for autographs etc and he stopped to talk to them all.

It's a tad disappointing how Sharron doesn't seem to feel confident enough to deliver the usual end-of-part-one piece to camera on her own like the other DC guests do (or maybe the producers don't think she is); this section becoming an "interview" with Jeff.

Have they done this with other guests?

When was Oliver on? It must have been shortly after Christmas, was it, because I hadn't seen him at all, and I don't think I saw it much then. Looks like the rest will have no chance against him which is a shame because there are a lot of nice contestants in the final, Nikki, Peter and Danny are some I recall.

He's obviously excellent at the game and very young but I didn't like the way he more or less yelled at Rachel, when asking her for the letters. I know it's just his way probably.
