conflict with contemporary culture? ? How could practicing the five pillars of the Islamic faith create a personal conflict with contemporary culture?

Holy Prophet Muhammad SAW has prophesied a time when holding the faith will be akin to holding a burning coal Probably it is that age.

Firstly, faith of Most Christians and Jews is only lip service. In actual fact they do not believe in any Deity and want to spend their lives like animals, eating, drinking and merry making. They look down at the firm faith of Muslims.

Secondly, the collective aspects of Islam hit them hard. Not accepting interest, creating a just order free from exploitation and equality for All, irrespective of descent, color or financial status hits at the very foundation of their order.

Thirdly, by abstaining from drinking parties, group sex and night clubs, Muslims are unable to socialize with non Muslims and often end up antagonizing them.

So live in a Muslim country, if you are a true Muslim. Islam makes it obligatory for the Muslims to join hands with their brothers in faith.

I think the only one would be the prayer requirement - if it is required to pray at specific times of the day, that might interfere with some workplace duties. It would probably depend on the nature of the work and the flexibility of the employer.

Three others - charity, the Hajj, the belief in Allah / Muhammad as his prophet,--- I don't see as problematic vs. contemporary culture.

I can't remember #5 off hand. It is NOT jihad, for you morons up there.

EDIT: Oh yeah. Fasting. I would like to pass along the observations of my wife, a special ed teacher in the junior high grades. During Ramadan, the Muslim student in her class was so lethargic due to fasting during the day (normally, among the leaders in the class) that his grades / performance in class significantly fell. That's a little scary. I'd call that a personal conflict.

it could if you let it. but it shouldnt. mostly it only conflicts in conversations. in practice it will only keep you from some things that you are probably better off without. so it kinda depends on them. birds of a feather you know?

Hi,

I have no problems with practicing my faith in contemporary culture....I live in Canada and have all my life before I converted to Islam.

Islam does not equal jihad give it a rest already ridiculous honestly. There is nothing wrong with the faith....only people of which there are good and bad and that is in any religion.
