hello.

i'm heavily considering purchasing the N95 when it becomes available, but i have a question.

1) i had the N80 and returned it after 1 day of use. simply put, it felt cheap...especially the slider mechinism. from what i've heard, the N95 has a similar slider as the N80....can someone pls confirm?

i currently use a 8800 and i love the feel and weight of it, it feels substantial! i want a phone that looks and feels substantial!

thanks in advance.

HELLO!! MACFLY??? sorry..it was just too easy although i'm sure i'm not the first

I think the N95 is going to give you that sense of substance. I have an 8801 and the N73 had that feel of substance as well....obviously not a slider but from what i've read about the N95 you've got nothing to worry about.

wow, i've never heard that before!

but can you confirm the slider of the N95 is nothing like the N80?

that N80 slider felt i was sliding two tv remote controls together, it was that bad! lol

From what angel_wing0 has reported the slide is nice and tight. It's also spring loaded so it's a totally different world than the N80. Considering the design of the N95 invites you to slide it frequently in many different positions, I would like to believe Nokia designed it with longevity in mind.

What? No, it's not? Where did you hear that the N95 slide is spring assisted?

GT, are you losing it man? I mean, really? Is the anticipation getting to you?

lmao....it's been reported by the bloggers that it is in fact spring assisted (and yes im starting to lose it a bit...pretty soon it's going to be a 10mp cam ) I'll find the link 4ya!

Sliding the cover back to its standard position automatically locks the keypad (it also locks after configured time out). The movement is very smooth and additionally supported by a spring, which means: push it slightly and it'll go further by itself

umm....everyone that went to the NYC Nokia store...all of the people at the event in September, and all the bloggers that have on right now...not to mention all the employees at Nokia that are testing them. I'd say we're pretty much the only ones that havent had the privelage! I think the amount of people that have "handled" one is in the thousands with all the events its been to....maybe many thousands.

I've seen that question asked on almost every site with N95 coverage and the answer has always been no, until this review that popped up 2 days ago.

The review also says that the phone is available for purchase in the first paragraph as well, but that doesn't mean I doubt the N95's ability to have a spring assisted slide. I hope not though, or rather, I hope it's made of decent enough materials that it won't crap out.

I remember angel commenting on the spring assistance as well though. Either way, I'll take a nice tight slide and I'm a happy camper.

I tried out the new E65 alongside N80 and its sliding feels noticeably smoother (though, the thinness and better build quality of E65 might have factored in). So chances are N95's sliding will improve on N80 as well.

I don't think it is tight. my symbian review says that it is wobbly Don't say that it is made by Nokia. I am fearing that the design of N95 is bad like N80?

take a deep breath...relax.....exhale....the slide is going to be fine.. If they incorporated spring assistance into the design then perhaps it's tighter than we think and it could use a little "assistance".

the us here part was referring to the active list of hofo people that would likely to answer this guys thread. i guess it just depends on what part of the horse he wants to get this info from.

this video on youtube seems to show a non-spring slider on the N95 but maybe it is a prototype??
