Comparison: N95 vs. N80

gotcha anyway, I'm just going on what angel and that my-symbian (michael jerz) said. I wish I had one in my hands so I could give a definitive answer. From all the videos (and I think I've seen everyone on the net at least 200 times ) the transition from portrait to landscape seems as seemless as it gets. I remember one from the event at September where the guy testing the phone was also filming it so he could only manipulate it with one hand. It appeared to me then that it was spring assisted as it would glide easily into the next position. I'll find the link to that exact one!

this is the confusion that lead me to posting! lol

i would hope nokia would improve their slider from the N80. i have a 8800 and i totally love the slide mechanism - totally smooth and tight with just a simple flip of the thumb!

i'm beginning to start to sway towards the E65. cuz' if i understand correctly, the major differences are 5mp cam, GPS and a stainless steel case - for an additional $500, right? did i miss something else?

The camera is kinda in its own league with features, so you have to break them down, since they're all separately better than the E65.

-5mp camera vs 2mp
-Autofocus vs none
-Flash vs none
-Carl Zeiss optics vs none
-VGA 30fps video recording versus CIF 15fps video recording
-Media functions as a whole (the entire N95 gallery) versus the old, list view for E-series devices
-3.5mm headphone jack
-TV-out
-FP1
-Faster processor
-2.6 inch screen versus 2.4 inch screen
-Stereo speakers vs what I'd have to guess is probably a mono speaker on the E65
-Almost triple internal memory
-Bluetooth 2.0 vs 1.2 (definitely matters, not just a number)
-Built-in GPS receiver

I was going to add that, for me, the N95 doesn't have 4 useless buttons that I'd probably never use, but since I won't be using the music keys on the N95, that doesn't seem to apply.

Nevertheless, I don't think all those features are worth an additional $500 either.

Camera is obviously better in N95 than E65. So, we need to throw this feature out in E65.

I am not sure how the stereo speakers are gonna be on this bad boy? I found N80 mono speaker to be much better than N73 stereo speakers. Quality was much better on N80! N95 screen is bit bigger than E65, but they are of the same resoluton! N95 is bit heavier(by 5 grams), volume wise bit bigger than E65(by 16cc). How about the battery? E65 is better than N95!

I know that these two are targerted for different audience, hence listed out few more differences

The gallery on the N73 and N93 are much more refined than the N80. The E series galleries are no different than the ones you would find on the original n-gage. I would say that the N series galleries are beyond superior....especially the newer versions of it.

ok, here's another question i want to throw out there...

i also currently use the Cingular 8525 to keep track of my "sports action". this was the main reason why i need a phone/PDA that would allow me to gain access to several sites i visit frequently.

question is....will the E65 allow me to surf the net, and more importantly let me log into the site i do business with?

Well, I'm not to keen on the spec's. of the E65, but if it is in fact a "Business" Oriented phone, then I imagine it would let you do most, if not all the things you currently do on your 8525. Now, how those sites will be rendered is a whole 'nother enchilada, and unfortunately I haven't added any more E65 info to the hard drive in my head yet. lol

There are many options for keeping up with sports news. If you can find a website that covers the news but isnt graphic heavy you can assign that link to a folder on your active standby. Click on the link and you'll have your news in seconds. The most painful way to keep up through sports is Cingulars media net but logging on to ESPN.COM is time consuming on an EDGE connection. Perhaps if we had a 3g Nokia it wouldnt be an issue but ESPN always challenged a wifi connection on an E61. I would assume the N95 will handle it better as it's got a faster processor....of course the E90 will really be the best surfing alternative as it's got the same processor and tons O Ram. (128)(80 free at boot)

That's the number 1 feature I will not miss from the E series devices. The antiquated gallery is a joke IMO. I dont expect them to throw in the full blown N series gallery as that's one of the things that seperates the two but spice it up a little.
