Community Thread / Tips and Questions

Programming is far too complex. I'm basically doing reading.

But still a degree is a degree, especially since I'm at a good university.

Its an excuse to not get a job for three years. More if I go for Masters, PhD etc.

I love that joshmay wants to be more active again. I love his writing and his ideas for the forum are always good ones.

/end of fanboy

The day i decided to start writing again my comp refused to turn on :mad:

I'm in uni on the pcs here but it sucks none the less.

Man, I hope I can cash in all these points I have been collecting all my life for something cool.

I am hoping for a Power Rangers lunch box or a mutlicolored slinky.

Yes... Someday...

Oh, Sade - it looks as if tonight has been escaping quite quickly. I fell asleep watching the long jump on the olympics and I have to wake up for work. Stupid work.

I cant wait till get I my degree in college. I am thinking about becoming an English teacher... but I need to learn the language a lot more if I plan on it. :)

School is cool.

Btw that "sex thread" was horrible

If a song that is seriously that bad comes along you need to report it, I don't know how you guys could even bear reading it the first time, much less crit it

(random cut into whatever conversation is going on)

I'm home :)

Not much to talk about really, Ireland was cool but nothing special. Haven't written anything in a week, the first time I've done that in a long time; but now I'm full of ideas and ready to get on with the new project.

Dunno if I told you about my Work Experience placement that I went on towarRAB the end of the school year; I went to a local theatre, looking at a load of the technical stuff. As some of you will know I do a fair bit of tech work in various theatres.

This placement was awesome, and they basically said to me 'We've been really impressed will you come back and do some work with us'

I had a phone message waiting for me when I got back from Ireland;

'Hi Tim, it's the Theatre. The UK tour of Annie starts here next week, can you come along and give us a hand.'

I jumped at the chance, so I'm in the theatre most of this week. And then, even better;

'We've also got a gig that we need you for if possible. It's at the castle so if you can get along on Bank Holiday Monday...'

I phone up, 'yeah it's just a small thing, one night of Status Quo, you up for it?'

As you can guess, I said yes...It's gonna be another awesome week :D

I'm also a fan of the "In-Depth Critique Thread" concept. The rules are clear and straightforward, and I think that, if members are willing to put in the effort, this thread will be an excellent thing, and one of the high points of S&L.

When I'm not in over my head with school work, I'll try to get in there are crit something.

Not really. PsyOpus is straight crazy experimental technical stuff. They're mostly influenced by grindcore banRAB. DEP is a simpler tech metal band, but they haven't really influenced much of anyone yet. Though I love them both.

If you like either/both of those, check out Ed Gein, Converge, Napalm Death, Me And Him Call It Us, The Locust, banRAB like that.

Absolutely. I would get working on it right away. It's a mind shattering topic, and it will probably tax every ounce of creative energy you have, but it is most def. something you should at least attempt to tackle.
