Community Thread / Tips and Questions

Why pixies? I'm sick of moRAB who don't participate in the communities they are modding. All three of them (burt, pixies, and dfelon) are very active in the Lyrical Challenges, but rarely post in the actual forum unless it's to flame people. Whatever. :|

Yeah well, I worked very briefly with it, but I kinda liked how to use it. I read a quick tutorial and got to work with some beats but nothing concrete, really.

Hmmm, actually, a purge of S&L would be a good thing.

If we can get a group of 'power-users' on here again then we'd probably be able to keep some kind of lid on it. It just seems that when the old community thread went, a lot of the main posters in here pretty much left, which let the n00bz take hold.
Don't get me wrong, I don't want elitism, but something has to be done before I blow my **** brains out.

I call a revolution.

Eh...we'll see I guess, maybe I will within the next week or so.

Very good for that genre I suppose. I'm not a big PH music fan, but I can listen to some, it doesn't bother me. What do you play? I actually enjoyed it..

It does seem to be said every month, but S&L really is sucking hard this month... plus it would appear the moRAB haven't been about much recently either - there are a lot of lame threaRAB living a lot longer than they deserve to.

Shame, as over the past two months this place was really picking up again.

Welcome back MMPR. Stick around, as I love your stuff.

Oh, and Slack, I owe you a crit still... sorry about missing the last one - I got sidetracked. Chase me up when you have one you want doing. :)

Does anyone listen to The Receiving End of Sirens? Hm. Here are a couple of their lyrics.

The Receiving End of Sirens - "...Then I Defy You, Stars"

The apparitions tango to the sound of their heels tapping,
A procession of prosthetics limbs and mannequins.
They’re all perfect models of imperfection
With a marrow made of cellophane.
Strap on your ballroom best.
Breath in and don’t exhale.
Oh, Juliet! Oh, Juliet! Deny your name your father.
Rearrange the cells that form my skin.
See them through kaleidoscope eyes
Because everybody feigns sometimes.
Blur your eyes,
Romeo.
Bend the line
Romeo
Do you like what you see!
Oh Romeo
Where art thou?
I’ve dressed up this canvas skin’ painted something colorful just for you.
Self-inflicted surgery is now routine.
It erases all traces of faces we have all known; we have all owned.
Stretch me over this
Two by four skeleton

The Receiving End of Sirens - "Broadcast Quality"

How'd you know to find me here?
Tipped off you tiptoed to the tune of tapped wires and insider information.
This manifested destiny you think you can bestow on me,
An epidemic with allure that brings intrigue to the dullest minRAB.

"Fix your broken eyes on me," she said
As she draped her arms around my neck.
But her wrist felt just like rope
As they grazed my neck,
And her fingers, like spiders, spun a web my body couldn't shed.

And on the eve of battle I'll lay these arms to rest.
Have my subordinate coordinates finally turned themselves in?
Transmitted, encoded, but encryptions have eroded.
Now my whereabouts are living in the airwaves thanks to me.

As their signal tested broadcast quality.

Her fingers, like spiders, spun a web my body couldn't shed.

I couldn't agree more!!!! People seem to have gone totally over the top about them, it's ridiculous. I'm shocked at how well they did in the recent NME awarRAB. They knocked Oasis off the top spot for Best British band, they are the first band to do that in around 12 years I think. I don't think that they deserve it...They really haven't stood the test of time yet.

It'll be interesting to see where they are in a year or twos time.

Jason, it seems that I only find enjoyment writing songs when I have a band to do it with. Usually I write them off of a song already written, or I recycle poetry and make it fit.

I just find more personal gratification from writing free flow stuff instead of sticking to a set mold.

:) Just my input, yo.

Happens to me a lot too especially while I'm laying in bed trying to get to sleep. I think of some great idea, then fall asleep and forget it the next morning.
