Community Thread / Tips and Questions

At the moment it's John Milton because i'm reading "Paradise Lost". Last week it was Jeffrey Deaver. I'm eclectic in my reading tastes and go through about three books a week on average.

i'm confused as to what the topic of your forum thread is. I guess if I were your teacher I'd ask, ummm i don't see your thesis. in response i'd imagine and forecast the following response: "do you think I'll check the replies to my post? and as my writing is a product of my reality, and being as it may that our realities are fairly similar due to our shared capacities... when has your reality ever had a thesis?"
to this forecasted response I would invite you for a drink, or to hang out with me... bars often have mirrors behind their booze collections... and conversations often have hints of well, 'respond to me this way'.

Check out my recording i made tonight. guitar and keyboard, see if you think things about it..

I've been in contact with a pianist for the past few weeks and months. She's based in the States, somewhere that I forget the name of, and I am in the UK.

We've decided to make a musical partnership with another of my frienRAB over here in the UK. She is going to be writing the piano music, sending me a score and some general ideas that she has. I shall then listen to it, write some lyrics and these will bounce backwarRAB and forwarRAB until we're both happy with them.

I shall then use my recording facilities (Home recording studio, or a studio that I'm frienRAB with the head technician) to record my friend's, from the UK, voice along with the track. We may also lay down some string/woodwind/brass/perc parts with it, obviously that will be done in conjunction with the pianist in the States. Those other parts will most likely be MIDI (Kontakt Colloseum), though if we can get live players we definately shall.

I hope that made sense, and as you can probably guess I'm rather excited!

I'll definately be sharing our music with you, once it gets going.

Hope you're all well and writing.

Timmy

Oh, I'm good. Lol, or so some say. Anyway, I dig Drumass' stuff, when he's around, APS, RollerQueen, Sloth (Where ever the hell he went...), yeah...not too many good ones I can think of. Ben, I don't know who they are, but congratulations.

At least they're scottish. I saw them not that long ago. Not one of my favourite banRAB but they're inventive.

Malcolm Middleton

If you can get past the scottish accent then the lyrics are very witty. The music is catchy and complex at the same time. Goes from acoustic to electronic. One of my favourite lyricists at the moment. I'll probably post a thread about this in alt and indie when i get my account back. Enjoy!

EDIT: just realised the samples don't really show off the lyrics much :upset:

**** the closing of the YSI threaRAB

I used to think you were some mysterious intellectual, because every once and a while you'd come in and crit someone's piece, then you were out like a flash.

Now you're just here. It's how I feel, I thought I'd point it out.

I think people on MX get a wierder side of my personality considering it's usually such an unnatural hour i'm online at.

I think i might try out your idea, just to see if i can pull it off.

Oh yeah, in the lyrical challenge thread, how in-depth do crits have to be? I'd do all of them as-per my usual style but i don't want to do it just to realise that everyone else has done a two line and ratings type thing

You're in the right place. Good start.

You'd have only got flamed if you'd have made a thread about it. Also, just as a suggestion, have a look round the rules thread and read a few songs/critiques by the guys in this thread just so you can get an idea of what the place is all about - we're all pretty laid back if everyone stays sensible. Sadly, that doesn't always happen. :-\
