Community Thread / Tips and Questions

I think S+L is fine as it is. We're pretty busy, we have our regular decent lyricists who always offer good advice and crits and we're a happy little community. Even if we did spilt the forum (which isn't gonna happen) there would be even more problems that we have now.

Anychow... I have a problem. I have an extremely hard time deciphering other people's poems. I mean I really struggle with getting the basic concept of what they're writing about. It gets to the point where I can't offer a decent crit. Also along the same lines... sometimes when attempting to crit a better writer than myself, I find their writing so complex and different that I don't think I can offer any advice because I can't compare it to anything. Does anyone else get this or am I just odd?

I used to run it, but without a sticky it was sort of useless and as is this place has a lot of stickies. A lot of people also got added and never got hurt by it because no one really read it. The regs know who the bad users are and the n00bs don't seem to care. That said, if it were stickied in place of another sticky for awhile to try that out, I don't see that it'd be a problem. Even better would be a thread with "The Wall" in the first post, and a problems thread below that. That's my opinion on it at least.

So....is anyone willing to join up a newer, smaller and more comfy forum while still remainining here? I think if we do end up joining another forum, we should still contribute here....I just think if 10 of us go to a smaller forum, it'd be more personal, cleaner, and almost more in-depth...

Post it in little sections then. :)

Personally, I like flash because I don't have a whole lot of time (or an attention span) to read internet stories. Which is wierd because I don't have that problem with books at all.

Generally a nay, although a way round it would be to post links to the previous songs in the thread for the new one. That was how I got round it.

eff up failed, Sonnet. ;)

The British Coastguard is a different entity altogether from the US Coastguard - we're a non-military organisation concentrating solely on SAR (Search and Rescue) missions, and we don't even actually have more than a handful of specific Coastguard boats, and even then, they're certainly not armed. Most of the actual rescue side of things at sea is handled by the RNLI, which is a voluntary lifeboat service funded entirely by donations. The role of the Coastguard over here is to save lives, not to sit there with a 9-inch cannon on deck blowing Cubans out of the water.

Uh oh, watch it Slack... In the past the moRAB have been VERY defensive about adding other people as moRAB... People have been banned just for talking about it.. Who knows though, maybe they be up for it now..
