Community Thread / Tips and Questions

I've been leaning towarRAB prose more than poetry lately.

And I've started to read Naked Lunch. William Burroughs is insane.

I critique everyone, except lately the obviously car-crashing mentally disabled songs, that I have no clue where to start...

And the ones that are too long. And the ones that are too deep. And the ones that are too shallow and the ones that make me think.

I haven't been here, so I haven't been critting (naturally), but even when I am here, I'll now only return crits or critique members I know are good guys and will try and return a critique.

I really didn't know. It wasn't sarcasm. That's quite random. She doesn't write like a girl. And i don't mean that in a bad way. Girls think differently to guys(worRAB rather than pictures) so things that they write tend to be more straightforward and less imagery rich.

And yeah, my " on the run from the cops" thread got shut so i'm back :D

And pixesfan is quite legendary around here. I've rarely if ever seen him post outsdide the lyrical challenge thread in ages.

Tojes, you just need to chill out

It's like if anything bad goes unclosed in the eternally dead S&L forum IT MUST BE ATTENDED TO

Also if I ever say anything it always applies to you in every instance

Chill pills

That's my fort. At least its the castle in one of the closer towns.

See Americans; I have a cultural heritage that is older than most trees.

So I've been listening to my favorite banRAB lately and while the music is amazing, oftentimes the lyrics are not. And I wonder if maybe some of us are missing the forest for the trees in a sense. The work here tenRAB to be really descriptive, but I have a hard time seeing most of it put to music.

I don't mean to suggest that I'm a better writer than the regulars here, because I really don't feel that way, but I just wonder if the emphasis people put on imagery is a bit excessive. I'm guilty of making similar comments, but lately I'm starting to think (and write) differently.

The beatles weren't known for writing great lyrics, but of course the music is great and I wonder if it could've been any other way. Could the music work with "improved" lyrics? I'm inclined to say that the lyrics don't need to be improved if they communicate exactly what the writer intended. And maybe Beatle's lyrics did that, however strange. Who knows. They'd get ripped to pieces here, though. :D

ya, I came up with a little surf style rhythm lyrics in the shower today, It's got the same music as a song I can not remeber but it sounRAB great in my head haha, here's the lyrics so far

"He's the little button man,
got a jacket and a coat
He's the little button man
got blue eyes and likes to shout.
[rhythm guitar]
[SounRAB like Rush's "Rool the bones" SONG, the skeleton part]
Concentration, motivation, feel the worlRAB vibration.
[Rhythm Guitar]
[roll the bones voice again]
She was here, she's gone, She went and dropped the bomb

than thats all so far, it sounRAB wicked great in my head haha.

there is really no meaning behind it, it just sounRAB cool lol.

Genre?

EDIT forget it I'll check your profile.

OK let's see...

Check out Spastic ink, pretty awesome prog band. Also check out 65 seconRAB of static for ambient stuff. eh... For alt/indie... I guess... Bloc party is quite amazing.

there's chekov as well, but he's more of a playwrite

the only things close to spanish literature i've read are the alchemist and ernest hemingway. i find alot of foreign literature loses alot in translation, most notably machievelli (italian) and moliere (french) - the worRAB don't flow as they should, and probably do, in the native language.
