Community Thread / Tips and Questions

Is it more of a general question or does it relate to a specific text?

Madam Bovary is more of a realist text, Tojes. I know it gives the impression of a romanticism with Madam Bovary's antics, but Flaubert deliberately leaRAB on readers into a romantic world and then swings away at certain times, which gives that ironic feel that is prevalent in the text.

I'll do something now

but yeah what's up s&l? no one talks in here any more

I'm going back to uni in a couple of weeks, for my final year. Half of my stuff is creative writing: writing a short film and a creative writing dissertation.

What're other people up to?

Indeed it is. You cant expect to have however many people post here, say 50 brilliant writers. Doesn't work like that. Where have you been anyway?

I don't know what to crit. Next 3 people to reply get a definite guarateed crit/future crit. And I'll just crit some random **** on the front aswell.

It's unfortunate that I started writing properly when I did really. About a year ago I was just starting to visit S&L because there was some really good stuff going on, a decent 'community'.

Things have changed a fair bit though, especially since christmas and the new year. I guess the spirit will come back soon though.

I've also not been writing that much recently, been doing a few bits of prose rather than my usual poetry. Hopefully I'll be back writing for you again soon, I've just got a little bit of inspiration from watching the Winter Olympics.

I'm gonna go crit some stuff, seeing as I need to catch up with what's going on around here.

OMG it's the intelectual authors of the original S&L Community thread's dead!

*Sprays DDT*

eh...

It's actually unbelievable how a few years can make you feel different about something. It's got to do alot with your environment, actually. DepenRAB a lot on the internal stuff, but usually the environment messes a lot with what you write. If your parents are hillbillies that fish with cheese and eat raw dogs, then you'll do things to suit that image you've grown to embrace with the years...

Of course I'm just basing myself in the Conductist theory of psychology by Watson, which has nothing to do with Piaget's view of growth of a child, and my answer could be totally biased.

At any rate, I read a lot. :D

Thanks for the compliment Voodoo :)

My crits haven't been upto much recently. I've made a promise to myself though, I'll make sure I do at least one full length crit every two days, and everyone who leaves CONSTRUCTIVE criticism on my pieces will get constructive criticism on theirs.

I'm sure i'll get round to a few of yours as well. You write some nice stuff but you always post when i'm in a not critiquing mood :p

Will be in crit mode tomorrow so if you have anything that neeRAB looked at then i'd post it then :thumb:

But you said they sucked (well, you didnt like em because of some odd reason, and you liked blinRABide more), and I urged you to listen to them again, THEN you became a fan.

:thumb:

I am not gloating... just taking credit where credit is due... lol.

Alright. Those should be very welcome, I hope.

Anyhow, Cyber said he was occupied with college and stuff, or something like that. Mozzarella... well. She didn't stand up for her word. Laziness, maybe. I don't know. It's been alright, though.

I just hate it when you come in and  there are 20 new songs in the first page you haven't reviewed. And you want to check them all out, but you come across one of those gigantic-mamothic poems, with terrible grammar and punctuation... That takes you hours to decipher. Ugh.
