Community Thread / Tips and Questions

Hi everyone, I'm back for 24 hours!

Tomorrow I'm heading off to Ireland on my family holiday, I've spent the past 2 weeks climbing throughout Great Britain. It's been absolutely awesome!

I might not be around too much when I get back, as I've decided to start a rather large project. That project being a musical. I sat down with a pen while away and said to myself, wouldn't it be great to write a musical. Miraculously it actually appears to be taking off. I'm guessing it's going to take about a year and a half to write at the rate I'm going at the moment.

Hope you're all well, and writing!!

I've got uni work, but not so much that i actually have to do it just yet :p

The music stuff is more of a priority just now. Really need to get it done and then audition band members. I've been lazy with practicing guitar recently also. Barely picked it up lately and that's crazy for me when i usually practice several hours a day and play whenever i'm sitting down for more than a minute.

I was pretty harsh on you, and it was one of my first crits, but go for it. Grammar and spelling aren't great and the style is quite derogatory, but you're free to use it.
Its some sort of creative writing class I assume?

Spontaneity for the win

My floor is covered with screwed up balls of paper and I've got single lines pinned to the walls, just little one/two liners that I'll use in something.

DepenRAB what you mean by "great".

I personally hate it because a) it makes your songs extremely predictable lyrically-wise, and b) usually, rhyming is only used in a very basic level, as if written for a junior high presentation.

Nonetheless, I can appreciate a good rhyming pattern if it's well made, but I try to stay away from it because it usually makes my writing weird and common place.

I'll make a write-up on rhyming, anyway. But that will be tomorrow.
