That list sucked. But I love Motorhead. The Beatles are okay. The Clash rock. Dig the Pogues. The Police are okay, they chose a shitty song though, the Ramones are okay. But yes, all in all, that is a list of pretty sucky writers right there.
Hey subtle, if you see this, I'd think about giving the Short Story Thread a sticky...or maybe remake it with a set of guidelines, it's a wonderful idea.
What's your opinion on Norma Jean? I like 'em. 'O God the Aftermath is better than Bless the Martyr though.
What (in your opinion) is the best song on Miss Machine? Number 5 (dunno the title), and number 2 (dunno the title either).
Meh, you know as well as I do what will happen - Jim will say "it doesn't really need one", then a super like Gav will offer to take care of things for a bit, and after two weeks everything's back to square one again.
I have to say that i'm really impressed by the "improve your writing" guide. It's well written, very helpful and extremely overdue. So well done subtle and atc for that.
On the topic of short stories (or possibly slightly off the topic), "The Picture Of Dorian Gray" by Oscar Wilde, although not exactly classically short is a beautifully written short novel. Almost every line reaRAB like poetry without being written in any type of form or meter. The prologue by wilde alone is one of the thought provoking things i've ever read. I'd recommend it to anyone intrested in reading to improve their writing.
