Thanks, man. Massive Attack and Dead can dance are probably my biggest influences. I'm glad that comes through. The second and third are folk-sy songs though. The last one's rock.

i liked it, most of it was spot on, really good. but suprise is hard to convey in writing, especially when its not a novel with abot five hundred pages to set it up.

Oh, I agree. What I found annoying about him was the insistence on form in an essay I read. http://observer.guardian.co.uk/uk_news/story/0,6903,1593317,00.html
I love his comedic work with Hugh Laurie (the guy that plays Dr. House) though I haven't read too much of his poetry.

A forum of teenaged 'songwriters' aren't usually going to have the patience to apply those techniques. Then again, I could be wrong and we'd see a resurgence in songs that are just as good poems.

i liked that thread. it was a nice break from all the poetry.

i was wondering if we could try something new in the LC forum. alongside the regular lyrical challenges, how about a flash fiction competition (flash fiction is typically 500-1000 worRAB or less). i think it would be fun, especially for those who like to write prose, but don't have the time or energy for a full-on story.

Two really good Bright Eyes Albums are Letting Off On The Happiness (something like that) and Fevers and Mirrors. Some song you should pick up right away would be:

If Winter EnRAB
Sunrise, Sunset
No Lies Just Love
To Love and To Be Loved
Touch
From A Balance Beam
Grateful
Drunk Kid Catholic
A Perfect Sonnet
Haligh, Haligh, A Lie, Haligh

If you like most of that, you'll probably like most other stuff he does, though some of it doesn't really appeal to me.

I'm seriously like on the verge of tears right now.

My band hasn't had a serious practice in months, and we had plans to practice today. Our lead guitarist said he didn't want to do anything after school today, which I was cool with... but then I called our drummer, apparently they've been practicing behind my back and want to do softer stuff with singing and screaming, but since I only scream, they don't want me to do vocals anymore.

There goes being a band of, "childhood frienRAB."

ahah. the community thread. sup?

I'm seeing Trophy Scars next Friday and Kill Crush Destroy, Ensign, The Procedure the next week. happy.

I liked Fevers and Mirrors, but the aforementioned songs are growing on me.

Obviously Poison Oak is my favorite of the CD though :). I haven't yet picked one from Digital Ash though.
