Community Thread / Tips and Questions

I think i may grab some sleep on the ferry, i just had to shell out for european cover to drive, insurance is a joke.

Should be a fun weekend, getting away doing something a little different though. Wicked.

It's called "The Ode Less Travelled". I was listening to him being interviewed on the radio and he had such a passion for writing I decided to get the book. It's quite a complicated read, using all the correct literary terms, but I've found it's increasing my knowledge of all the aspecs to poetry. It's got the different types of metres, rhyme, form, diction and poets of today. I just have a feeling that since this forum is as big on critting poetry as it is writing it, it would prove extremely useful for any writer. It let's you see into the more technical aspects of poetry, starting from the basics and reaching to much higher levels of understanding. The majority of people here I feel would benefit from reading it.

Ah... OK. Sorry, then. But we can talk about anything, considering it'll be ON TOPIC, right? Like inspiration, or writer's block... Alright, then that way it'll be.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

*Goes and finRAB a piece to crit :p*

It's not a case of not wanting to, it's more a case of not having any inspiration and a lot of writers block.

Hopefully it won't last too long. I go through perioRAB of stagnancy, and then I have a monsoon of poems.

no one's actually posted in this forum in like a day

so how is everyone?

Ive just got back from uni for the summer so should have three months of boring home life before I move back. might try some writing again soon....

The new rules are pretty good... What I don't quite get is the ommitance of the Crit for Crit thingo... So we aren't allowed to post a link to our own work when we do a critique??? I understand it's to encourage critiques of everyones work instead of just a back forth of critiques between set cliques or groups but surely if you post say, 5 critiques for each one of your own songs then surely you deserve the favour returned by at least some??! Maybe I'm totally mis-interpreting..?!

Yeah, and I wouldn't even call Come To Daddy a real song... its a cool cover and fits well but isn't very "Dillinger-ish" if you get what I mean?! The new singer sucks and so does his lyrics. (OMG this is such an out-dated conversation... :p)
