No time no time I have no time

How do literary and/or filmic texts participate in the social construction of race?

Have to answer that, then, tojes, minus, I'll get to it.

Hmmm, I really don't read any poetry at all. It's shocking really, as I know it would help my songwriting etc, but it just doesn't interest me. :-/

Don't get me wrong, I can appreciate a good piece of writing and so on, but I just don't enjoy sitting and reading poetry.

EDIT: and on the subject of today's other topic, I have an old cat. The baby think's it's the best thing ever. The cat's not so impressed.

A) boredom.

B) helps identify (and hopefully rectify) problems that you can fall victim to yourself. For example, if you can see when a rhyme is forced or a line is cliche in someone else's work, then you're more likely to be able to spot it in your own writing, and hopefully fix it.

As a pointless aside, I was just reading up on Stephen Fry the other night, and I honestly had no idea he was gay. :amaze:

Unrelated, I wish I could speak like Stephen Fry.

to what jo said.

i think that might fail when you use song lyrics; its too subjective a subject, and people can take things like that very personally. e.g. someone postssomething about oving a banRAB lyrics, others disagree, ensue flamefest and pointless arguements.
but if you ue poems, you would stand a better chance of objective and more meaningful posts, but i doubt you'd get much response. probably not enough people read poetry around here, and it would be kept afloat by several regular posters. but i'd post there, so it may be worth a try, i may be very wrong.

like tojes said, most posters are apathetic towarRAB other's work, focusing mostly on their own. which is slightly annoying.
edit: i can see about six threaRAB on the first page where i don't believe the ts has posted a crit on anyone else's work

everyone go listen to:

M83's album Dead Cities, Red Seas, & Lost Ghosts

if you dislike M83 or refuse this suggestion, you are the face of stupidity and therefore labeled as a user with bad musical tastes.

I just got back from a taking back sunday show last night...and despite all the reports I heard about them sucking live, i thought it was a really good show. They played along with motion city soundtrack which was cool as well. I got all the way to the second row from the barrier, and then I caught a T-shirt :) Anyways, it was a good night
