in regards to the first quote...

I get the feeling that Paramount bought out the site to silent the site. I'm waiting for them to do something about 1-18-08. That one sounds bogus, too. Here's a site to base what the public should recognize as coming from JJ Abrams' hand, or order by JJ Abrams... NoelCrane.com
That 1-18-08 is too simple. There's NO WAY that site is official, or an official site trying to be unofficial.

It looks to me that the "viral campaign" is linked to 1-18-08 since it's quoted they are the source of the "viral campaign". And, since they are NOT official... then, the viral component can't be coming from the creators of the film, seeing as "viral campaign 1-18-08 is unofficial.

Paramount took down the YouTube trailers because they were not a legitimate source of trailers. If an official trailer appeared at EthanHaasWasRight.com, then, I would think THAT SITE is official. btw, the front image looks like it's coming from 'Stargate'. Maybe the trailer actually belongs to 'Stargate' and NOT Cloverfield.



In regards to the second quote...

I highly doubt that JJ Abrams would think to that complexity. I'm sure THE Parasitic Monster is Evil. But, I'm also sure he'd take them out of Yu-Gi-Oh before he'd base them on monsters in the Jewish faith.
 
I'm so incredibly hyped up to see this movie, been anticipating it since it's announcement. Just a while left to wait (being in the UK blows some times).
 
Ok I'm not insane, we rented it tonight and the Dharma logo does appear

I enjoyed this movie. I loved the dizzy camera shots. It made it feel like you were in the movie. I think a reason why the movie has gotten some bad reviews because the movie makes you ask a lot of questions about the story and makes you wonder about things. A lot of people don't like it when movies make them think or wonder. Besides, this movie comes from JJ Abrams. He made Lost so you kinda knew that there was going to be a lot of mystery to it.
 
That's an incredible bit of synopsis making. :D It sounds like JJ Abrams' version of "War of the Worlds" with an "Armageddon" flashback. :embarrassment: THANK YOU! I can really picture it! :eek:

I get the feeling that the party scene you described is indicative of a real life surprise birthday party some woman misleading the public as JJ Abram's wife supposedly threw for JJ sometime last year. It shockingly aired on "Entertainment Tonight". Maybe this movie is his reactionary statement about her to the world about the turmoil that ensued post this woman's spread of her name attached to him all over the internet. I think maybe the camcorders represent the camera men of "E.T." that may have showed up at this surprise party and shocked JJ Abrams and he panicked as his life flashed before him at the effect the falsehood by this woman (McGrath) would create on his career if it aired on syndicated television. I mean, she really spread her name out by using his name.



I beg to differ, but, everyone has a right to their own opinion... in my humble opinion.




I wouldn't be shocked if it indeed touches on that theme, given the previous kidnapping storylines of "Mission Impossible: 3" and "Alias". And in "Alias", it was actually child, then, his mother (played by Tracy Middleton) with the mathematician father (Christian Slater) panicking. Oh, and that same actress was in "Mission Impossible: 3", too. Her character was killed. I wonder if that means anything. She was disguised as Ethan Hawke's wife.

You know, a "host" is what a parasite feeds off of. Interesting.
 
Cloverfield is the code name for the film.


I read an article that said that after seeing the trailer searches on the internet rose like 96% for Cloverfield. And anywhere from 56-75% for Bad Robot (JJ's production company) and for JJ Abrams.


Marketing genius really--keeping it so mysterious.

And yes, I've heard the rumors that it's a godzilla like film.

JJ can really do no wrong in my eyes, so I'm super excited about this film.
 
Saw this yesterday! AMAZING! I have to admit, I got nauseous, but the movie was spot on. A lot of people in my movie hated it for various reasons: didn't like the hand held camera work, thought the ending was lame, no loose ends were tied up, blah blah blah -- obviously they didn't understand it. Of course no loose ends were tied up, and I'm so glad it ended the way it did or else it would've totally ruined it. One of the most intense film experiences I've had in a long time. Thanks you JJ Abrams.

Exceeded my expectations and then some. I don't understand why people were dissapointed. :shrug:

I was amused people waited past the credits to see if there was an ending. :lol:

I'm still torn up a bit.. not able to form clear thoughts. The film had me on edge the minute the room went black...til the end.
 
i hope so to...but if it does end up being Godzilla...hopefully it'll be better than the last Godzilla attempt hollywood tried...i was so let down by that movie haha
 
I'm lucky I didn't watch it with my brother and his girlfriend at the theather or else I would've thrown up too. My brother did tell me though that he threw up half way into the movie.

I actually really enjoyed Cloverfield despite the mixed reviews that it got.
 
Oooo I wonder when the DVD will be out here (Italy)? I'll most certainly be adding that one to my collection :)
 
Exactly, which is my biggest problem with the sequel too. It just wouldn't have the same impact and be as effective if they decided to continue the story, and I think it'd take away from the originality and impact of the first one. Sure, we don't know why the monster was there, where it came from or what happened next, but we don't really need to, and besides, doesn't that make the whole thing more un-nerving? Leave it as it is!

I loved Cloverfield, and I firmly believe that it reinvented its genre, partly due to the script, the camerawork (which was AWESOME) and the entire way the concept was executed. Brilliant.
