Cloverfield/1-18-08

Just been to see the film now and really liked it but admittedly had to close my eyes a couple of times to try and stave off the queasiness I felt from the wobbly camera, but it was damn hard to look away since alot of the scenes were really frightening and amazing.

I was a bit concerned before I saw the film about the casting of unknowns but after seeing it I'm glad they did because it could have easily have come across as a disaster-hero movie with well known figures in it. Plus it lets you concentrate on the genuine terror of the film.

I wondered if the Statue of Liberty's head was big enough. Isn't there a viewing gallery under the crown? It didn't look as though people could fit inside it.

I saw this the other night and for the first 30 minutes was more concerned with trying not to throw up than the movie but I thought most of it was decent, the special effects were impressive and the ending realistic. Overall it was entertaining but it had its fair share of plot holes and I feel it could've been better especially after all the hype it had before its release

I saw that and thought that perhaps they had 'drawn and quartered her' or something, but that explanation seems more likely.

I changed my mind, it seems like an excellent movie still.

Sorry but I found it hard to care about characters who

- are rich beautiful people who hang out in luxury apartments surrounding Central Park. At least Spielberg's heroes are blue collar types you can identify with.
- can run up 35 flights of stairs and back down another 35 in no time at all without being knackered/having a heart attack.
- see a video of spider things attacking troops and decide that walking down a long tunnel in the pitch dark is a good idea.
- say 'oh my god oh my god oh my god' ad nauseum

I was rooting for the monster ;-)

There weren't any - I watched the film this morning and stayed to the end of the credits and there was nothing.

I really liked it - thought the premise worked perfectly and the build up to actually seeing the monster was perfectly paced as well.

And I found I could cope with 'shaky-cam' as well :)

Yeah but think how many people are going to download the film in the 2 weeks before the UK release. I agree that a world-wide release would be better but it seems like it isnt going to happen!

2 things. You really shouldn't have to go to all the effort to see a film, I even read some people were taking motion sickness pills beforehand

Also, what cinema do you go to that allows you to bring your own seats?

Apparently there is some spoken voices at the end which might hint at the monsters survival and future projects

Looking at all the viral stuff the back story is too well thought out for there not to be some sequel content produced

I'd love to watch it again but really dont think my eyes or stomach could take it, it took me a good few hours to stop feeling sick - but I suppose thats cos I get motion sickness :D

I found this movie to be mediocre. The reason it made so much money is mainly because there's nothing out in the theaters at the moment. And when I say nothing, I mean nothing. Plus this gained some hype due to the marketing gimmicks.

Yes, the camera moving like the handler has Parkinson's is rather painful. I left the theater with an enormous headache. During "hectic" scenes, you can't see anything at all since the camera is moving all over the place.

Honestly, the whole "Let's destroy NYC" plot has been raped too many times before. I wasn't even impressed with anything because, hey, i've seen all this before.

Many of the things that happened are rather unrealistic (Yes, i am suppose to suspend disbelief but damn don't push it). The acting was pretty bad. And don't worry, there's nothing TO give away so I can't spoil anyone even if I wanted to.

The whole theater started to Boo at the end so...'nuff said?

this film looks great from the trailer, its really interesting how a lack of information on the film and the viral publicity has helped this film garner alot of interest.

i cant wait till january now, its not often a trailer gets me interested this far away from release
