Yes, I agree with you, and I'm hard to please when it comes to comedy movies.
But all in all, I thought this was great value all round.
My son loved it as he's an Adam Sandler fan but my hubby hates the guy and fell asleep within the first half hour...deliberately... and then had the cheek to say it was rubbish the next day.
I liked the comparisons the film drew with human reactions in comparison to a very unrealistic, unbelievable, situation. Resulting in totally off the wall, ridiculous, but hilarious results.
Ask yourself what you would do with a remote control that can do anything, and you have your answer.
In this sense, the film had the right reaction as to what we might do and try out. The results and the reactions were met with ones that we might also react to..i.e. trying to act normal whilst being stunned in disbelief, to then taking it all for granted.
Predictable....not really. This film actually had a story to it which is unusual in itself with all the slapstick going around.
That's what worked with this movie for me..and I think it's well worth a view.
