My comparison was a slight exaggeration, however modern multiplex screens are very small compared to the massive screens from the golden era of cinema.
Compare the Odeon Leicester Square to your multiplex to see the difference.

We watched this at home on Sunday night (haven't been to the cinema since X Men 3 as have a 42 inch TV at home with surround sound. I hate sitting in a cinema with kiRAB as they just don't shut up and always go in groups and ruin the film.
I would pay up to

I don't like Adam Sandler films but I liked this film A LOT when I watched on DVD a few days ago. It may not be particularly original (it owes a lot to A Christmas Carol and It's a Wonderful Life) but it is a good film in its own right, and unlike 95% of films I found myself thinking about it several days later.

Go see it!

(BTW I agree that multiplex screens are too small!)

I thought this film was fantastic, actually. Yeah the premise is a little trite and yeah, it has a predictable ending, but it was as sad as it was funny and it was a great little film that all could enjoy.

Is it sad to admit that as a 26-year-old male, I had numerous tears in my eyes during the "dad" scene (you know the one)?

Yes, I agree with you, and I'm hard to please when it comes to comedy movies. :o

But all in all, I thought this was great value all round. :)

My son loved it as he's an Adam Sandler fan but my hubby hates the guy and fell asleep within the first half hour...deliberately... and then had the cheek to say it was rubbish the next day.

I liked the comparisons the film drew with human reactions in comparison to a very unrealistic, unbelievable, situation. Resulting in totally off the wall, ridiculous, but hilarious results.

Ask yourself what you would do with a remote control that can do anything, and you have your answer.

In this sense, the film had the right reaction as to what we might do and try out. The results and the reactions were met with ones that we might also react to..i.e. trying to act normal whilst being stunned in disbelief, to then taking it all for granted.

Predictable....not really. This film actually had a story to it which is unusual in itself with all the slapstick going around.

That's what worked with this movie for me..and I think it's well worth a view. :)

You're right, the whole film itself wasn't predictable, but after the heart-wrenching "dad" scene and then the heart attack and eventual death, you knew there was going to be some form of "Undo" - this is a Hollywood film after all! - and I'd worked out that the bed in the bed store would be the place we'd end up back at. Not that this spoilt my enjoyment of the film, but I think a healthy amount of American feel-good film cynicism meant that I'd planned for the "It was all a dream" sequence to happen way before it did!

:D You are right about the predicatbility as it gets into the storyline.

What I meant in terms of 'unpredictable' is the fact that this is not just a slapstick comedy and actually has a storyline.

That in itself is a treasure in today's American comedies. :D

And you are absolutely right about the feel good factor about the film even if you've worked out half way into the movie how it's going to end. :p

So go and see it with the family folks, if you want a fun night and talking point with your youngsters afterwarRAB. :)

I really liked this film. I like Adam Sandler anyway and its nice to see a film where it's funny but also quite sad, like the Dad scene.

It's not only a film with a storyline but a very important moral

Did you know that originally when he dies in the film it ended. They showed this to audience in America in previews and they all complained that it wasn't a nice ended and it should have ended happy. Adam Sandler then decided to re-write the ending and chose the dream sequence as the audience weren't having it. It's not really his fault because if the majority of audiences don't like it then he will change it for the best.

I prefered the ending they had as it was nice and sweet and made him realise what he was missing. It also wasn't a dream but it actually did all happen,it was just Morty gave him a second chance to put things right :D

Really?....talk about contravershial :D :D

I had a feeling that it would all end in a dream sequence. However, if it had ended the original way, I agree it would have more people talking about the sad ending. ;)

I'm not sure I believe this.

First, Adam Sandler didn't write the film, and therefore couldn't have "decided to re-write the ending". Secondly, it would be incredibly daft to end a film that's billed as a comedy on such a poignant, sad note, and even though I snarked at "American feel-good"-ness earlier on, I think deep-down I'd have felt a little betrayed had the story ended there. The writers (who, between them, have written for Bruce Almighty, Seinfeld and Late Show with David Letterman amongst others) are fully aware of this.

Is there a source to this claim?

I'm not making it up i swear :D

Firstly when it was first released in America and i read the reviews from preview viewers they all said the ending was terribly sad but they said it had an important message in his dying.
Also on the Wossy show Adam was on and said they changed the ending because the audience didn't like it.

:D

Seen it tonight!

Enjoyed it more than I thought I would. Half way through I said to my mate...its a dream he is going to wake up on the bed lol. Was also sad just before he died lol sooo glad I managed not to cry! Would never of heard the end of it.

Only thing was the ending.......why was the duffer and the note there? lol

You beat me to it, i was just about to say that i think people misunderstood the ending, he could have had all that but Morty just wanted to give him a chance to see how his life panned out and then gave him the choice. I found this film to be excellent i am a huge fan of Adam Sandler and i think the only film i never liked was Going Overboard (very early).

I like the way that he is moving into more poignant films (50 first dates and now Click both had me really thinking and crying!!!!) there is still the comedic value there but you actually end up thining about the film for days after and it came at a particularly good time for both me and my parter. I know itsonly a film but we have been having a rough time recently and it made us both really relaise that life is just too short to sweat the small stuff. as a result we havent had an argument for about 16 hours now (in the last 3 months this is considered to be a record!!!!!) :D :D :D
