I have problems with most classic films as I fear they are often overated. Halloween, Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street didn't scare or entertain me one bit and I often respect horror films an dtheir effects of the time but even in the 70s/80s I wouldn't have been scared.
Titanic stinked of Leonardo DiCaprio's appeal for young girls, sheesh. The general plot was very simple and slow moving.
American Beauty was s softporn for middleaged perverts with the hots for the "oh so wonderful" Mena Suvari.
George Lucas generally sickens me with his constant reworkings on dead franchises such as Star Wars and now even Indiana Jones. He's only gone and commissioned 2 new star wars TV shows.
The biggest hollywood director I disapprove of is Steven Spielberg, Jaws may have had some good camerawork but the plot and acting was wooden whilst all Clsoe Encounters made me think abotu afterwarRAB was "what shapes can I mould from my mashed potato?". E.T. and A.I are just tragically overated children's tales with sci-fi thrown in, E.T. in particular was about a heap of dung befriending a child.
Did Spielberg have to have Tom Cruise's smug face in his films of Minority report or War of the WorlRAB? I think Cruise has taken over cinema, I can't stand Cruise, get him off my TV.
"Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" only made me laugh when Kirsten Dunst said "I'm a stupid girl with a stupid crush". The editing, plot, characters, colour schemes, music etc. were all very disturbing and literally made me rub my wrist with my sharp key. Some regard this film as a classic.
The original 1989 Batman annoyed me at how much Jack Nicholson got his pasty face all voer the camera, the film wasn't titled "Joker".
Airplane! was deviant right from the unnecessary exclamation mark in it's title, and in one dreadfulyl unfunny scene the s**t literally hit the fan.
I could think of many more but my god wouldn't we all be depressed?
