Classic Chart Show Showing On The Vault 356

I guess Swatch must have paid Channel 4 for the privilege in keeping their name in the titles. For the Vault Channel, Pepe Jeans would have had to pay the Vault to have their name uncensored.

I think I've worked out how this repeat run will work now- the episode shown on Friday has been shown on Monday morning and again today, Saturday's episode was shown on Monday evening, and Sunday's episode was shown yesterday. It's most likely that the Saturday episode will be shown again tomorrow, and the Sunday one on Friday, which will open things up for new episodes on Saturday and Sunday, with them able to strip them accross the week- with the Saturday episode repeated Monday morning, Tuesday and Thursday with the Sunday episode on Monday evening, Wednesday and Friday. I could be wrong, but it seems to make sense.

They're starting to DOG the repeats now which isn't very good. Might mean they may start DOGing the repeats on the Vault too... if they ever get round to scheduling it...

There are ones with HDDs out there, not sure how expensive they are though, you'll have to look.

That's the same problem I have though- I use the analogue inputs on my DV camcorder to record the programme- the problem is I can't do it unattended. Actually, the TV is a TV/VCR combo, but the VCR very temperamental and I don't trust it well enough to do a decent recording (plus it only records in mono, not stereo as well).

Quick question, given I missed the 2 on last weekend what month/year were those from? 91/92 or 96/97/98 era?

I'm just itching for some to see some indie/dance charts from the late 97/early 98 sort of time again. Really keeping my fingers crossed the repeats hold up this time and we get some. (It's some of the stuff they used for songs without videos during that era I'm longing to see again)

The silhouettes of people dancing, footage of scrap yards and on screen games on pong (with mixing decks in the background). Oh happy memories.

Yeah, Saturday lunchtime there were kids programmes being shown - we have a freesat box ch 1275. EPG showed it was the Vaults.

Strange!

Yes, the episode 3 (January 19th) 1991 certinally looks correct. The dates tally up in my hit singles book, it seems to match up with this too:

http://ftvdb.bfi.org.uk/sift/title/607355

The colour of the "coming up" screen depends on which chart was shown (pink was Dance, purple was Rock and green was Indie) this week was green, so it matches up with that listing.

One thing that's just struck me about watching this is that I've just remembered I hadn't even started school when this edition first went out. Yikes.

Not sure of the date yet, but this has to be one of the final episodes simply because of the songs they showed as coming up later (Booty Call by All Saints, If You Tolerate This by The Manics etc........). I'm hoping this is the second to last, because then we get to see the Music Sounds Better With You video- the one made of the montage of old graphics (although that was one of the editions shortened for Formula 1). I can remember watching these episodes at the time (though the 3rd & second to last editions I watched on the late night repeats).

Edit: looks like August 1st 1998, so the 4th to last edition. It's also one of the Formula 1 editions, so only 40 minutes (this also shortened the first edition of SM:TV/CD:UK).

2nd edit: Look, an on-screen mention of the final edition :)

I somehow doubt the repeats have been taken off this quick. Either they've been taken off to fix the problems they've been having, or the listings are wrong (it's happenned before with other channels). There no listings at all on The Vault website at the moment for some reason.

There are a lot of faults with Chart Show TV. Another fault is that they crop most videos to 16:9 even if they are 4:3 or 14:9 to be modern yet only have Mono sound on a lot of the new videos.

One thing I want to know is this- is it one of you who's uploading episodes from The Vault (and videos from them) to YouTube? If it is, please stop. It could give them a reason to either take the episodes off, or at the very least to start DOGging them (Curiously, the 2/5/98 edition on YouTube is DOGged. I presume this must be from the Thursday repeat, my recording, from the Saturday is logo free. I hope they haven't started DOGging the Thursday repeats- especially as it's the only way I'll get to see this week's edition).
