Classic Chart Show Showing On The Vault 356

You mean The Verve video? I still personally find it quite intriguing, and would be interested to know the full story behind it to be honest. I think it was something like them wanting the video played in full with no graphics, but I could be wrong.

i like this classic chart show on the vault its great i'm downloading more tunes i see and hear from this show every week than new songs currently in the top 40! the songs of the past on this show are better than the current chart music!

The New Chart Show was on again yesterday on Chart Show TV but it was a repeat again so it looks like they have given up on the new version.

They have done this twice- they showed the 1996 Xmas episode at Christmas, and they had the 1998 Valentine's show last week. From what I've gathered they do have all the episodes (though the 1986-1990 ones are on 1" tape, so they can't play them), they are just mixing them around at random, presumably so we get a decent variety of shows and music from different eras.

Just to let you know, someone emailed Matt at The Vault about Saturday, and the reason they showed the 1992 special was because of a problem with the tape of the episodes they were going to show. What's bad is the email contained this:

so it's worrying that they might take the repeats off full stop- and they're certainly not going to transfer the 86-90 and 93-96 episodes. I think what they really need is a showing during the week at some point in the 8-11PM time bracket- I think they'd get a fair amount of viewers during this time that are unable to catch the other 3 showings for various reasons (work, kids etc...). Saturday mornings and weekday afternoons aren't really the best slots for many people.

I'm glad you can remember it so well, my memories virtually a blank to those graphics for some reason. I watched the show virtually every week back then as well, so god knows why I can't remember it.

BTW Gaz, will you please get back to me on the Private Message I sent you?

It had to happen I've had 2 e-mails regarding 2 of my top ten charts from UMG. It says they can remain as long as advertisements are placed on this video's watch page.

Think I'd better just take these 2 off be on the safe side?

When I asked the BFI (British Film Institute) to see the first three episodes of Channel 4's The Chart Show, the BFI told me it would take some time for the technician to convert the 1" tape into something compatible such as the DVDs, which I was watching there. However it was worth waiting for the appointment date to see the episodes. Interestingly the ITV episode of 21/01/89 which I was watching there was in a VHS tape. Not too sure why was that, because I didn't have time to ask the guy there. If the BFI can manage to do that, why can't the Vault channel do the same. Is it because the BFI has so much money from the government to convert their archive films into tape, while the Vault doesn't have any cash to do their classic chart show episodes themselves !!!

The Chart Show supposedly got sales figures from specialist shops and mainstream record shops. Its not surprising that a record which is very popular in mainstream shops might not be as popular in the specialist shops. Hence why Snap were no.1 in the national charts and not no.1 in the specialist charts. :)

Well it's been a few weeks since I emailed The Vault asking about repeats, and I've had no reply. Looke like they, or at least Vicki, buggered up promising us the repeats would come back.

Whatever the rules about advertising are/were, I doubt they'd be ever able to show the sponsorship graphics. They're seperate from adverts, and seeing as the sponsorship deal is long expired, I doubt anyone would be happy.

And Sam- please stop. Surely you've noticed by now that people are just ignoring you?

this weeks episode included some songs I have never heard of like Spaceman 3 and Praise - Only You. The number one wasn't too good. The Simpsons - Do The Bartman.

Don't worry Jay I'm back. My YouTube account is now called dee1974raz. However I've put all my chart show charts on my MySpace website. However there is a link to my MySpace website from my dee1974raz account on YouTube :D
