Classic Chart Show Showing On The Vault 356

I did actually try upload some chart show videos, but they got rejected by dailymotion because of copyright issues. Dailymotion are strict in terms of uploading music videos on their website. I know CentralSouth3 (YouTube user) tried to upload his 1989 chart show special on dailymotion and that got rejected as well !!!

Can you tell me exactly how you superimposed the Powerpoint stuff over Premiere? I'm having a lot of trouble working out how to do it- but that might be down to us using different versions of Powerpoint & Premiere.

Just seen a trailer for this week's show- looks like it's the 14/2/1998 edition, with a special "Love Chart" voted by the viewers. I think I can remember that, though can't remember what was in it.

I imagine the Saturday listing is a mistype. If it was listed as 45 minutes on the other hand it would be quite interesting, as that's how long the show was before November 1987, so it would indicate we were getting some early editions (although it could also mean one of the 1997-98 episodes that were shortened because of Formula 1).

There is one channel that does show old chart show episodes, but unfortunately the channel is awful, as it always repeats few episodes shown, until it gives up on them and then repeats the same mistake a year or 2 later. I was very lucky to see the first ever episode of the chart show on channel 4 - not by going in a time machine unfortunately, but actually by making an appointment to visit the BFI (British film Institute) to see that episode and others. Its a pity that there isn't any other TV channel that would show early chart show episodes that was shown on channel 4.

Also if a person claims to have this episode, always ask who are the artists and songs on the video. This would make it clear if he/she is telling the truth or lying.

I emailed Matt at The Vault and he said "It's a very real possibility that Chart Show repeats will stop soon , so enjoy them whilst they are still there…"

So it's looks quite grim at the minute so keep watching the chart show so we get the amount viewers to keep it running.

It's worrying, but the fact is, there's nothing we can do. We're already watching them. We can only hope more people do. And, personally, I think that should be done by putting the repeats into a more accessible slot- as I've said before, a late night weekday slot (some time around 8-11PM) would be the best option. Quite simply, a lot of people aren't around on weekend mornings or weekday afternoons, and if they have kids they'll likely have control of the TV at those times.

I watched today's episode and didn't really enjoy it that much, truth be told - purely because it came from the very poor music year of 1992 (Enya, Jon Secada and Jimmy Nail in the top 10?!) and I didn't like many of the songs played.

That's why it's a shame that episodes from the much better years immediately afterwards are in a non-usable format and can't be played.

I have always wanted to know what the last icon is on the menu bar and now I know thanks to you russnet. They never used the last icon. It's called trashcan. :)

No sign of The Chart Show.

It's still down for Wednesday but usually the listings on Sky for the Vault don't update until 24-48 hours before. As for next Saturday, it's Top 10 Hits from 2-6pm.

I got an email back from The Vault (I emailed into their "vote for your 10 favourite videos" thing and left a message about the repeats in there) and they said the reason they aren't showing 1980s episodes is because they are on 1" tape, which they don't have the machines to play (and would seem to make sense about the 1992 start date, it's around the time that it fell out of use- I'd presume by that point it would be on Beta SP or D3), though if the repeats prove popular (I hope they do) then they might pay to have them converted. So we should all support these repeats, as then we might get to see older episodes.
