Cinema prices are taking the piss!

I haven't been to the cinema for 2 years. Just checked current prices at my local Vue and standard adult ticket prices vary depending on what day & time you go.

I wonder how the Unlimited Card works with the studio split of the ticket price?

If I go to the cinema 10 times per month (pretty typical), then I'm contributing

In my local cinema they used to do an early bird price on a sunday on listings before 12noon..now its only mon to friday and they have put there prices up !!!!....recently i seen a comment from Peter Jackson who was complaining last month about The Lovely Bones film being pirated on the internet before the release of the film! apparently some copy sent to reveiwers somehow got copied on the interent !...well if the cinema prices were cheap enough Peter than people wouldnt look to the internet instead of going to their local cinema !! i feel cinemas should address the pricing problem and make it more affordable as we are still in a recession !!

I don't believe that people download films to save money. They download them because they can. Being able to access new films so easily has changed people's attitude; they think that cinema tickets are expensive because they're comparing them with the cost of downloading, instead of comparing them with an evening out. You could pay

True they have no right to search you or your belongings, but they can refuse you entry on the basis that you may be carrying recording equipment.

Sure you can kick up a fuss, but at the end of the day if they say they don't want you in the cinema and give you a valid reason, what can you do there and then?

Or on the basis that you are carrying food...

From Cineworld's Terms and Conditions:

2.2 Alcohol and Food Policy: No alcohol, food or soft drink may be brought onto the premises. Only food and drink bought on the premises may be consumed on the premises. Alcohol may only be purchased and consumed in Cineworld licensed bar areas or in licensed screens and licensing laws will be strictly enforced.

2.6 Search Policy: Cineworld reserves the right to search a customer's possessions whilst on the premises for any item which a staff member believes may contravene these terms and conditions. Customers must consent to being searched for any item which a staff member believes may contravene these terms and conditions. Failure to give consent will result in the Cinema Duty Manager refusing entry or requiring the customer to leave the premises immediately without any entitlement to a refund.

Personally I think those are unreasonable terms but I'm not a lawyer.

Vue's terms aren't anything like as draconian. All they say is that you can't take in alcohol and you can't take in hot food from outside. I never take food in but I've seen others eating stuff in Vues and not being challenged.

You would have thought so - but as the post says, they have deals where they have to pay a percentage of the receipts back to the movie companies. VAT is obviously a percentage cost too. The net effect is that they're dealing with variable, rather than fixed costs.
