Cinema - A Bit Rubbish ATM

The last film I saw was Four Lions and I so intend to watch the the Bill Hicks film. I think it is a little bit scant with films at the moment, I have mostly been using Blockbuster to catch up on films I hadn't seen first time around.

Yeah I c\an't think of any film on at te moment I ws specifically or excitedly waiting to get released. it is very much just checking what happens to be on at the moment and picking a film. Having seen trailers and lists of the summer releases I have the same feeling. I can't think of a single "must see" film coming up that I have to see, as I couldn't wait for it to be on Sky next year.

I want to see Cop Out, but my cinema aren't showing it for that shit Streetdance 3D.

I'm looking forward to going to see Death At A Funeral and Get Him To The Greek next month though.

I agree. There's usually several films that I'm really counting down to their release. But this year, there really isn't anything that's got me excited on the horizon.

Iron Man 2 was the only film I was really excited aobut this year and that was it.

Toy Story 3 is the only thing I will set out to see in the immediate future. And I'll happily watch it in 2D, thank you.
This is turning out to be a very poor year.

Indeed.

I'm relying on that film to save this summer (quality-wise). Because pretty much all of the hyped releases this year have been letdowns, thus far.

WTH? Shouldn't cinema be a reasonable escape for those of us who do not want to see the World Cup? In fact - why don't they market it like that? Chances are they could bring in a lot of people who are not usual cinema goers.

Says who?

A few of the films with biggish names

June 2
4.3.2.1 (new Noel clarke film)
Death at a funeral (Chris Rock Danny Glover)

June 4
Killer inside me [Jessica Alba Casey Affleck] (could cause outrage when the Daily mail get hold of it)
Shrink (Kevin Spacey)

June 9
Brooklyn's finest (Richard Gere)

June 11
Black Death (Sean Bean)
Greenberg (Ben Stiller)

June 18
Killers (Katherine Heigel, Ashton Kutcher)
Macgruber (Val Kilmer)
Wild Target (Bill Nighy, Emily Blunt, Rupert Everett)

June 25
Good Hair (Chris Rock)

No blockbuster titles but some stuff there that looks ok judging by the trailers

I disagree. There are plenty of good films - it's just that the big cinema chains only mainly show the mainstream dross for the braindead massive. Hence the rush for 3D, the massive love it, even if the film is a pile of pants...

Huge doesn't mean its a good film. Robin Hood hasn't been recieved well and hasn't set the box office alight either here or in the US.
It's been open over a week and it's only made as of last Sunday $67m. It's getting hammered by Iron Man and Shrek. Prince of Persia hasn't opened yet so it could become the 4th place film in the top 10 after just 2 weeks..
Most of a films box office money is taken over the first week. From the looks of it Robin Hood is going to be lucky to get more than about
