In some passages in the bible it seems to say you are saved by "easy grace", but in others you are judged solely by your works, such as in the book of life. Using Pascal's Wager, then Christians ought go by faith AND go by works. If it is the case that Yahweh judges you by your works, and you do good works, then you go to heaven. If you do NOT do works, then your probability of going to heaven is greatly diminished. If it is the case that Yahweh judges you by your faith, and you have faith, then you go to heaven. If you do not have faith, then your probability of going to heaven is greatly diminished. So, if one is a christian, they ought to go by works AND faith.
If this is the case, then why is the Christian doctrine for the majority that Yahweh only requires faith, which is based on :"easy grace." This concept promotes promotes the LACK of good works and the idea that murder, adultery, rape etc. are actions which one can repent, and Jesus has already "paid" for those "sins" with "easy grace," and they therefore go to heaven despite their "bad" works, which is contradictory to the "Book of Life" which states you are "solely" judged by your works. (and no, that does not apply to the "apostates" it applies to "everyone", including non-christians.
"And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. " Revelations 20:12
Max--It ought not be so easily debunked......but it is.
primoa--according to revelation....you are judged by your WORKS, and it says nothing about FAITH.
To those that say you are judged by "faith alone", are you calling Yahweh a liar, when he "revealed" that EVERYONE would be judged by their WORKS in the book of life??--as it says NOTHING about being judged by faith!!
elyon--your answer illustrates that bible contradicts itself. This is not a solution, but merely points out that the bible is unreliable, and that the case against it is even stronger with regards to this question.
andie--what you said is nonsensical, and just points out all the contradictions in the bible. The passage i cited does not say the "jewish dead, the dead before BC, the unbeliever....it says THE DEAD. What you do, is merely using "Humpty Dumpty Semantics, by making the bible mean whatever you want it to mean, and you yourself illustrate the contradictions in the bible on this topic, so you ignore the other passages that don't mesh with your indoctrinated view of works vs grace. I pity you.
