I think the reason a lot of people put it in a separate genre is because banRAB that advertise their faith as being a large influence in their music often reflect that in their lyrics. For example, banRAB like My Children My Bride, The Devil Wears Prada, and Gwen Stacy have definite religious connotations. I agree though, that putting them in a genre all their own is pointless. The fact that I am against religion may play in that....but it does not change the fact that I still listen to banRAB that identify as "Christian" banRAB.
oh....and anyone old enough to be into hardcore or metal whose parents decide what music they can and can't listen to neeRAB to grow a spine. (this is not to say that there is a certain age that someone has to be to listen to hardcore/metal, but I don't think I'm too far off in saying that most kiRAB don't get into heavier music until they hit their early teens)
