chile miners rescue bbcnews24 or sky news

I apologise. I've read through all the posts now and can see that the majority realise it's a terrific rescue and very moving.

Although Gutted Girl's post was immediately followed by this

 For God's sake - I dont know how old you are, I'm guessing around 14, but "GROW UP"

To rescue Carlos *crowd cheers*, call 09044 21 22 and add 01. To save Jose *crowd cheers*, add 02. If Pablo's your man *crowd boos*, add...

I've just turned back onto the BBC News 24 coverage, after watching it earlier. Have they still not started to lift anyone out of mine yet?! I know they were doing some final tests but that was hours ago! Are they having problems with the rescue operation? Has something gone wrong? I hope not!

Just turned over from Sky News to find the BBC reporters doing interviews in spanish and sounding very professional. much better coverage than Sky

Yes, I'm watching it....to see the sheer joy of each and every miner rescued from their hell. The whole rescue is a monumental achievement to everyone involved and each and every rescue is made to feel special.

The very last thing that I want to see is anything go wrong. Have absolute admiration for the fortitude of all those involved including some of the 'dignitaries' who have managed to stay awake to greet each miner.

I will admit, before the rescue started that I thought it would be a shambolic mess but have been blown away by the professionalism of the rescue mission from the rescue from the mine itself to the dignity with which the reunions are handled, and the way they are quietly but quickly sent off to hospital.

Great, great viewing. All the technology allowing us to see the whole story, above and below ground. Amazing.

Glad they have packed that Matt Frei off. Tim Willcox has been there from the outset, so should be fronting the coverage, not some pompous upstart. Wasn't liking how Matt was treating Tim either.

He's the one operating the winch i've heared, he wanted to try to bring them up with a fishing rod but the mexicans were having none of it ;)

:D

I sat up all night watching the incredible rescue. Amazing when one of the rescuers reached the bottom and the first miner came to the top. Simply brilliant, up-lifting and positive. Their recovery and re-adjustment begins now in earnest, along with the relatives to.

A day Chile should feel very proud indeed.

BBC News defo. I think Tim Wilcox is about to wet himself.

We really are witnessing reality television in action. Too much? Too voyeuristic? I'm not sure. Great to have a good news story for a change.
